On amazon.com, the date for the release of the "The Drowsy Chaperone" CD has been changed from June 20 to June 27. Anyone know why?? I've heard Ghostlight is really good about getting their CDs out on time and, in a lot of cases, before the actual release date, so why make us wait another week?

Well, for those of us who don't go about insulting the show, I'm a little annoyed, as I can't wait to hear the music again since I saw it in December, but I can wait another week. It's just a week. :)
maybe they decided to add in some of tony nominee bob martin's dialogue bits (based off the recording photos he was not even at the session)

okay i'm an idiot, i have no clue how i missed that pic (of him in the booth no less) but either way i hope they're expanding his bits

The show is only about an hours worth of music, so they have a lot of extra time. The full Nightingale and the cut Tottendale/Underling song are also on the record. I'm sure they'll record some of Man in Chair's dialoge.
bah. I wish it didn't get pushed back. The 15th was my las final. I was going to celebrate with buying the CD. lol...most people just go out for ice cream or something....
I just got an advanced copy of the DROWSY CHAPERONE cast recording, and I while I wasn't crazy about the score in the theatre, I have a feeling the tunes will grow in fondness with familiarity.
It's a very handsomely produced recording - and they have done an expert job of balancing the songs with enough of Martin's dialogue to give a real feel for the show. Fans should be very pleased, and I think detractors of the score will be pleasantly surprised.
I have a theory as to why the release date was pushed back... If *crosses fingers* Drowsy manages to win Best Musical (or a significant number of Tonys) the producers want a chance to sticker-up the CD case with how many awards the show recieved and a June 13th release date, two days after the awards are announced, isn't enough time to do that.
I wish it would come out sooner, but I think they're probably smart to wait. The show IS going to win some big awards, and it will sell more copies if they label it as a Tony award winning show.
