It's been a very long time since I've tried to get tickets on the day of a performance. I hear that Duffy Square is gone. Has the internet replaced Tkts?
What's a good way to pick up same-day tickets for "Chicago" for a weeknight?
The TKTS booth is still there, it just moved a bit. It is now located under the Mariott Marquis theatre on 46th St. CHICAGO's always on there, you shouldn't have any trouble getting seats.
yeah, I don't see TKTS going away any time soon... if at all
When is the new booth going to open?

In December of 2006, haven't you heard??
Seriously, they need to pick up the pace on that thing. I'm not even sure it has an official projected opening date anymore (though I'd love it if someone could correct me).
I think they're at least making headway. The "glass stairs" seem to be up.
I personally am fine with the Marquis location.

What was located at the Marquis before they put the TKTS booth there? Has there always been a box office of some sort there? Just seems to fit very nicely into that location so I've always been curiouis.
I believe it was just a breezway, like the one through the Minskoff.
Yeah, they built the tallest building in Asia in 18 months and NY can't get a ticket booth done in four years. Wasn't there a Broadway souvenior shop, posters mugs, keychains, in the TKTS present location?
It is outside the marriot marquis diagonally across from A Chorus Line

No. It was an empty storage area.
Ever since I started planning my NY trip, about 6 months ago, I kept hoping that this endless project would be done by the time I'd visit ! Supposedly, they'll have it ready very soon, the tentative schedule was for early April and they HAVE made a lot of progress lately, as I've been checking through earthcam ! It is almost done, but I highly doubt it will be unveiled in the next 3 weeks !
I so wanted a photo op at the top of those stairs !

That's what I had read too, that they were aiming for a spring 2008 opening. One of the NY real estate websites (either Curbed or Wired) has been following it and had photos a while back, and it did seem as though it were finally coming together. A lot of the delays don't seem to have been the fault of TKTS--I remember reading that one of the manufacturers they were using for building materials went out of business--but it does seem as though this project could have been completed much much faster than it is.
ETA: Ah, apparently both of them are covering it. Here's a photo of the booth as of December 07.

Yes, my info comes from the Wired forum, too ! You are absolutely right ! It was the glass manufacturer ! Though, how a supplier problem, can cause a delay of YEARS, is something I don't get ! At the stage it is now, it could be finished in a week, if only they used more workers, but every time I check there are only a handful of people working ! Doesn't anyone in the powers that be, understand, that a big ugly construction site in the middle of the most touristy place on earth is bad ??? Speed the damn thing up !!!

Yeah, and we didn't have the B'way Christmas Tree this year because Duffy Square was closed up. I missed it.
I agree with you completely, it's ridiculous how long this is taking. I think they managed to build the Eiffel Tower with steam-powered machines in less time than this.
