ECC Auditions Question

So I see a lot of casting calls for shows I would LOVE to be a part of. Problem: I'm not equity. Is it pointless to go to one of those casting calls? It makes me think about Tee Boyich. She started off helping the creative team of Mean Girls during their workshopping period in 2016. So it makes me wonder how she got involved in the first place. Did she audition somehow? As far as I know, this show was her Broadway debut, so it makes me wonder how much of a chance other people who aren't equity have. Thoughts?

Some shows will cast from ECCs, some will cast from agent submissions, some, like Tee on Mean Girls and most of the company on Be More Chill, are simply offered roles by the creatives.

ECC Auditions Question

Showing up for an equity call when you are non-equity is a crap shoot.  You MIGHT get seen....after waiting all day, but they are under no obligation to do so.

How to join equity?   Get cast in an equity show or work for the many shows that offer equity points and earn your way in.

Or read about it from the horse's mouth!

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
