Don't know much about this show but am glad that something is going into the Belasco.
Oddly excited for this!
Yay!
They seem to have added a character. As I remember it there were only two other actors in London - her young husband and the music director with whom she rehearses. Who's the new guy? A bellhop maybe?
There are 4 actors.
Actor 1 - Judy
Actor 2 - Anthony
Actor 3 - Mickey Deans
Actor 4 - Radio Interviewer/Porter/Sam
YAY the Belasco will finally have a show!!!
Tom Pelphrey is smokin' hot.
So who's Cumpsty playing? He's around 50, and he doesn't play piano.
Radio Interviewer/Porter/Sam, presumably.
I realize that sounded like a stupid question, but it's just that, while not a megastar, the last couple times Cumpsty was on Broadway he was playing the lead in 42ND STREET and the second lead in COPENHAGEN (and Off-Bway recently he was doing Hamlet, Richard III, and the like).
They sounded like smallish parts for the type of performer he is.

I see your point, I've never heard of him before, so wouldn't know.
The 4th actor is barely seen or remembered, hence mallardo not realising that he even existed! However, if Pelphrey is "smokin' hot", he is Micky Deans and if Russell plays the piano, I assume he'll be Anthony.
Well, as they say: no small parts, only . . .

The article clearly states that Cumptsy is Anthony, Pelphrey is Mickey and Russell rounds out the ensemble. Look at the second page where it lists their bios and roles.

With this announcement, it almost guarentees that Follies won't transfer.
Ah, I didn't see the second page.
Broadway you are in for a treat! I saw it twice during its London run. Tracie Bennett gives a quite incredible performance
some Pelphrey skin, so we can see his talent, but alas no glimmer.
mainly screen caps. There are plenty of handsome face shots with many lengths of hair on Google Image for him.

I was talkin' about his Talent, the dude has 2 Emmys,
Daytime Emmys.
Looking forward to seeing this at the Guthrie here in Minneapolis. Another out-of-town tryout @ the Guthrie, following SCOTTSBORO BOYS...

@ North2009. I'm sure the Guthrie would be selected for this production because Judy came from Minniapolis

What an undertaking -- to perform a character, not impersonation. Of course every Judy note/gesture of every Judy song is sooo ingrained in our collective memories.. the vocal training for this alone on an 8 perf/wk schedule is monumental. Can't wait. The YouTube commentaries are very interesting indeed.
