Hearing rumors from IATSE local stagehand in San Francisco that the pre-Broadway musical EVER AFTER and another one based on H.G. Well's The Time Machine are back in pre-production stages and ARE going forward. Anyone know anything about either of these shows? Hasn't The Time Machine been tried as a musical before? If not, has anyone heard about this one? I seem to remember a failed attempt of The Time Machine as a musical but it never made it beyond a regional level.
I don't know how I feel about The Time Machine...

The rumors I've heard is that Stephen Schwartz has been asked to do the music and lyrics and Matthew Morrison has been asked to play the young professor who invents The Time Machine. I am going to send an email to the Schwartz website to see if any of this is true. I'll post the results of my inquiry here. Strangers things have happened. Still, this sounds like a very expensive idea.
EVER AFTER has been in pre-production since like 2004, and it's doubtful it will have any real progress for many, many years to come.
I've always been curious how a musical version of The Time Machine would work. I just hope Schwartz isn't writing music and lyrics. I'm not too fond of his lyrics. EFX had an H.G. Wells/Time Machine segment, Actor 7. That might be what you're thinking of.
Maybe Ever After will make as much progress as Night of the Hunter.

That would be wonderful if EVER AFTER was back on, but I'll try not to get my hopes up till I see some official announcement. Crossing my fingers though...
