Wicked is insane. I remeber going up on the 28th of December, you know when virtually every teen has off from school, and turn out was 300. Luckily i got the dead center seat!

Does anyone know if Sweeney Todd generally sells out on Saturday nights? I'm trying to find a good bet for some visiting friends, and I know SRO tickets are only sold when Sweeney's sold out. Thanks in advance.

I won DRS Saturday. Box seats aren't that bad. I won Hairspray and Wicked first try. Just got lucky for Wicked

DRS lotto seats used to be front row center.. they changed it to box seats now.. which kind of sucks. I loved sitting front row

Do lotteries happen for all touring productions? We are going to get Spelling Bee, Wicked, and DRS. Can I count on lotteries?

Eh...sorry to threadjack, but does anyone know how Rent lotto has been VERY recently?? I know it's more than it was before the movie, but the more recent, the more helpful. I may head there this weekend with my boyfriend.

Chad2, it's different for every venue. There was no lottery when the Hairspray tour was in Raleigh, for instance.

I did RENT lottery a few weeks ago and it was a good turnout, not as mobbed as Wicked, but it was pretty packed, luckily we won. It's always worth a shot and they usually have mezz seats for like $45 if you don't win Lotto.

so it's worth at try :) good luck!

Spelling Bee is really tame it seems lately, we went there and there weren't more than 40 people there, so it was fairly easy to win.

i have seen DRS 6 times and have paid lotto price every time.
first, fourth, and fifth times i won
second, and sixth my friend has won
and the third time I was lucky cause these girls had mezz seats but won lotto and sold us their $50 mezz seats for $25.

and the fifth time i did lotto and won was John Lithgow's last show. good times.

It is hard to say easiest because you never know what turnout the day you go will have. However, with the new shows in previews and especially with Three Days of Rain across the street, DRS is your best bet and Hairspray is a close second. If you really want to see Wicked, please do not count on the lotto though. It is just too insane.

I'm thinking of doing lottery today.

From how I see it, one could conceivably play 3 lotteries? Am I missing something?

EX: Hairspray (5-5:30)
Rent or DRS (6-6:30)
Spelling Bee or Drowsy (6:30-7)

If, say, I have horrible luck and strike out, what are the chances of being able to get last-minute tickets at TKTS? I avoid that place like the plague, so I don't know.

I've only done Rent's lottery (and lost every time), so I don't have high hopes of winning anything.

actually, I believe you could play four lottos (?):

Hairspray (5-5:30)
Rent or DRS or Ave Q or Wicked (5:30-6pm)
Bee (6-6:30pm)
Drowsy (6:30-7)

(I've never done Drowsy, so double check on that one, but I am pretty sure my times on the others are correct).

fyi DRS and Bee were both on TKTS last night (Wed)- not that that necessarily means anything for tonight.

Thanks... I was a little off on my times.

Although that does seem like a ton of running around to me. I think I need to decide what I would like to see. (Probably Rent because I haven't seen it since... August.)

What are the crowds like at TKTS around 7?

Rent has had a lotto for years. First 2 rows. $20.

And Hairspray has a 7PM show today... So their lotto is 4-4:30

"Rent had Starving Artist Tickets"

Maybe, but they initially had the Rush policy for front-row seats. Because people were camping out overnight to get seats, they changed it to a lottery. So while they may have had Starving Artists tickets, they ALWAYS had rush. And I'm pretty sure they were the first show to do it. Whether or not it was easy to win does not negate the fact they had a lottery long before Wicked and Avenue Q were even dreamed about.
