There is a god. Now I really can't wait to see this!
Off topic, but- I wonder what Scott thought of Mermaid. In my opinion, it wasn't Wright's best work. Hopefully he won't be as critical as some people are to their former collaborators. (cough-Arthur Laurents-cough).

This has been known for months, yet still no official confirmation from Encores! or City Center.
Tonya Pinkins: Then we had a "Lot's Wife" last June that was my personal favorite. I'm still trying to get them to let me sing it at some performance where we get to sing an excerpt that's gone.
Tony Kushner: You can sing it at my funeral.

Though somethinwicked had mentioned it in a previous thread before, a confirmation by Ebersole herself makes me even more excited than I was. I simply cannot wait to see Davie's "One Halloween." Glad I got tickets for this show trusting that they would get a fabulous Eve Harrington... glad they didn't disappoint. Now who will be lining up the rest of the cast? The show is less than a month away, why are they taking so long to announce the cast?

Mario Cantone and Kate Burton are also linked to the production.
Subtle...but sassy!

Kate Burton?! Seriously? Why isn't she playing Margo? I have a crush on this woman. Is she really going to be in this show? Okay, now I'm REALLY glad I got my ticket, sad I didn't shell out the extra $25 for a decent mezannine seat though.

The complete cast for FOLLIES wasn't announced last year until Jan 18.

I guess it will be the same for APPLAUSE.

Ljay, I didn't go to the link but I'm positive that Donna Murphy, Christine Baranski and most of the principal casting was announced in November. I know because I bought my ticket the second the press release announcing Murphy's casting was out. Garber was one of the last to be announced. By this time they should have announced principal casting, or at least Davie.

Yes, principle casting for Follies was announced in November. But the complete cast wasn't announced until Jan 18. I agree, by this time principle casting for Applause should have been announced.

Ebersole said it in an interview, as somethingwicked pointed out, there is no official press release from Encores! or City Center.

To hear it from Ebersole makes this some of the best news I have heard in a while. I hope Cantone and Burton are in the production too. That would be amazing.

This makes me want to cry. I will be in the city from February 1-3. There's no way I can make a trip back in the same week. I will be excited (and a little bitter) to hear reviews.

I missed seeing Lauren Bacall in the original Broadway production, but caught her fabulous replacement Anne Baxter (the original film Eve) as Margo. SHe had a marvelously smoky singing voice and was this teeny-tiny thing. Penny Fuller was still a deliciously manipulative Eve.
Cantone will certainly be playing the Lee Roy Reams hairdresser role and Kate Burton the playwright's wife.

That's probably right, philcrosby. Now I wonder who'll end up playing the Bonnie Franklin role.

I talked with Kate Burton and she confirmed that she is, in fact, playing the playwright's wife.

I didn't realize until I just looked it up that Sammy Williams was in the ensemble of OBC.
