I admit it. After today, I'm a certified Eden Espinosa fan. But I'm no shill. Wait for someone else who saw her today to post their take.
After seeing Wicked 3 times I can tell you that this time was different. The power in her voice is, well, you just had to be there. The entire cast played off of this. At curtain call, Kristin stepped back and gave Eden the spotlight and the applause.

I'm so glad to hear she did a great job today. Someone like Eden who isn't singing 8 times a week doesn't have to save her voice can take vocal liberties and over extend - and I bet that was a treat for the crowd. I hope she had a blast today.....

Wow. How was the Eden/Kristen chemistry in Oz? Thats so awesome. Go Eden!!
I'm on this email chain with all Idina fans and they were being so annoying today saying that Wicked wont be the same without Idina and that it will suffer and they feel bad for anyone who has to see Wicked today because of Eden being Elphaba. I wanted to kill them! Give the girl a chance damn it! It got be so infuriated! True shes different than Idina, but she probably got a whole new range on Elphaba to offer.

Elphie...I'm on that list too and I agree, the things that were said were unbelievable. Luckily it was only one person who felt that way. I'm glad Eden finally got her chance to shine!

If anyone who was at the performance today feels compelled to give details, it would be greatly appreciated by the people who were not fortunate enough to attend. :)

OK, the chemistry between Fiero and Eden was potent. They just clicked. Even when she dances with Joel Grey she seems to be floating. I think the crowd was taken by surprise, they were expecting an understudy and they were blown away.
Just before the curtain went down she and Fiero high- fived each other and that just summed up how they worked together.

Does anyone have details about Eden's performance that they'd like to post? Also, does anyone know when Idina has a vacation so I can see Eden go on?

I don't want to sound like I'm anti-Idina. I love Idina. But at the risk of sounding crazy, Eden blew her away. Her mannerisms, her expressions, her voice...oh my god she sings like an angel. Not a single blooper that I could see. She floated around that stage effortlessly. When she dances with Joel it was just beautiful. Joel was smiling ear to ear. The whole cast seemed like they were pulling for Eden, the underdog. They wanted her to make good. And she made good. Norbert looked like he was in love. Kristin pushed her forward and then stepped back, herself at curtain call. She was all class and gave Eden the glory. She looked like the proud mama.

It's incredible that her voice is more powerful. Acting-wise, I'm sure she's better than Idina. I really, really would love to see her do the role.

Didn't anyone else see the show today? Tell them all I'm not crazy. I only wish I was Stephen Schwartz though.
