Good call, Danny! I am assuming that you are referring to "Once Upon a Time" which I have mentioned numerous times on here! It is the song I mentioned that received a standing ovation during the middle of the first act. I have absolutely NO singing ability, but I can tell that that is an extremely difficult song. It's the 8th wonder of the world to see Eden perform that song. I'm soooo bursting at the seams for people to enjoy the show and her performance in it!!!

oh i can't wait for brooklyn! i wish it was october!
Yea, Erik, I know what you mean, even with me having not actually SEEN the entire thing. I really can't wait to see the huge explosion it causes for everyone. Really can NOT wait. Eden is going to blow everyone away, and all the people that heard of her through Wicked will be like "Aww, she's famous now. Why didn't I say something?" I am just really...on the edge of my seat to see not only the show itself, but the show that it causes all throughout Broadway. Wow I sound cheesy.

However, on this board, there have been many posts of Idina playing sick, including one time where she had to sing "Defying Gravity" down an octave and have Eden replace her in the middle of the show. When she was out a lot either a month or two ago, she still performed in some shows, and my guess is that some of that time she would be sick since illness don't just randomly disappear and reappear with that number.
If I am remembering right the show where Idina went on and couldn't make it through the rest of the show was a time when just about every lead if not all of them were out already. I imagine she did try to go on, and there are hundreds of instances where something happens and a performer is replaced at intermission for whatever reason. One isolated incident. It's happened to her once. It happened to Harvey in Hairspray once. It happens.
When was Idina "out a lot" a month or two ago? Before she left to film the movie I didn't think she'd missed more than three performances total since opening. Please remind me if I am wrong. I have read your posts on the subject and from what I can tell you have only seen the show a couple of times so I can't for the life of me figure out how you are coming to these conclusions about Idina's so called inconsistancy. Especially when I never hear the complaints from anyone that are coming from you so I have to wonder. People are usually astounded at what a good performance she continues to give after all this time and I've read hundreds of comments from people that claim she is maybe even stronger than she was in the beginning. So when one person is sticking out making claims no one else seems to be making then I have to wonder where you are coming from. I just don't see too many other people screaming about how inconsistant of a performer she is. It is quite the opposite.
Brava Toon. The incessant whining about Idina at ONE performance is getting annoying.
God you all are dense! I wouldn't talk about when Idina was out for filming a movie. She was out sick awhile back, not too long before the movie (either late April or May), and she did some of the shows then.
Oh, and you don't get points for going on stage when you're too sick to sing your big number: I don't care if the rest of the leads were out. That kind of illness isn't something that will come on during the course of the show: it's not like the stomach flu that will just make you throw up at some random time before you know you're sick.

I'm not dense. You said a month or two ago so obviously you weren't talking about her vacation for the movie. Your post said she "missed a lot of shows". It could have only been one or two at most. Her first missed performance was scheduled and she's only missed 3. The main point was that your battle cry of inconsistancy doesn't make sense. Which hopefully you realized because you neglected to address the issue and that was the main point of my post. Of course now I'm sure that since I've called you on it that you'll jump back in and try to defend your accusation which no one else seems to agree with. It may not seem this way but I'm not trying to attack you. It is just tiring to continuously hear the whining over something that seems to be so irrelevent. So you think she had a bad night and didn't perform up to her usual brilliant level on another occassion. Well that certainly makes an excellent case for inconsistancy. Someone take the darn Tony Award back please and make this person happy.

Ok, several things. First of all, if you've read my original post in this thread, I only said that I wonder if the people that prefer Eden hadn't seen Idina at her best (the CD and the Tonys certainly are not her best). Most people only see a show once, which would mean that if they've seen Eden, they haven't seen Idina. BroadwayGirl107 said that Idina can be inconsistant b/c she performs sick. So, obviously, I'm not the only person that thinks so. Especially considering the clips on Eden's fansite, there is no way that Eden can be as good as Idina at her best. Acting-wise Eden could possibly be better than Idina on the CD (which seems to be fairly in between her best and worst), but singing-wise, she's flat: very expressionate, but flat. Idina at her best puts so much emotion, technique, and flare in her voice that's something I've personally never seen before. The second time I saw her, I couldn't speak a coherent sentence I was so in shock about how great she was. Unless Eden is about 1000 times better in person than those clips show, there's something else affecting people's perception.

I'll concede that you might possibly find someone else on this planet that will agree with your opinion if you'll accept that your opinion on the subject has been well documented. You've been heard. You don't have to keep bringing it up. Hopefully we won't keep seeing the same argument from you popping up in wicked threads in the future. It's gotten old and I'm not going in circles on this anymore. I'm out of this conversation. Updated On: 7/11/04 at 01:15 AM

actually, i have seen idina twice, both when she blew down the house. i just prefer eden's take a tiny bit more. I still LOVE LOVE LOVE Idina.
She blows down the house even when she's bad. Did you see the Tonys? It's kind of scary.
Wow, I think Eden is one of the most talked about up-and-coming actresses on Broadway right now. Just listened to her rendition of "The Wizard and I" and got goosebumps. I can't wait to see Brooklyn - does anyone know what theater it will be at yet?

the only think that annoys me is that the website says "featuring Eden Espinosa". it should be "starring Eden Espinosa". sorry. you probably all want to slap me.
To think I started this! WOW! And as for "Making Good" as my signature it's there so as many people as possible can have a chance to read it!!!!

i tried getting back on her site, and i'm having trouble. is anyone else?
I can get to that website, but everytime I try to watch or listen to full clips, it says that it is temporarily unavailable
