I saw the show last week. If anyone wants details, message me. It wasn't a replica of any production, however.

I'm in the show, and Eden is absolutely flawless, beautiful, and powerful every second of this show. Her voice sits perfectly for this score and I can't imagine a better person for this role. Ben Crawford is playing Che and he's STELLAR.

>He said that Espinosa had not enjoyed her stints on Broadway and had in fact cut her Wicked contract short. Implied that she was more interested in film and TV and has had success with voice over.
When was this? Because she was the original Elphaba understudy, did a month on tour and a month on Broadway short term. Did a 10 month stint on Broadway. Then 11 months in LA and another 2.5 months to close out the LA run. Then another 4.5 months in San Fran. That's a lot of time for someone who "cut her contract short"
Any chance there will be a life after this run for this production... It looks amazing and Eden sounds head and shoulders better then Elena Rogers

The Uber ride was this May. He did not go into detail about which engagement she cut short, but in retrospect upon reading your comment it does seem strange. I was not familiar with Espinosa at the time.

It seems odd that her husband, Joseph Abate, who is a manager and producer would also moonlight as an Uber driver *and* would be that candid, but stranger things have happened. You could look at your Uber ride history and see if the name lines up. Regardless, methinks somebody was pulling your leg.

I also can't think of Eden having success with voice over (though granted I dont know her career very well) but that description does fit Julia Murney much better, who has done a bunch of voice over to great (financial) success and hasnt persued too many stage roles- maybe you got your Elphies mixed?

This kind of stuff isn't exactly in my wheelhouse, but I don't believe Julia Murney has a husband.

I mean she has done Voice Over work, but it's been near exclusive to Robot Chicken on Adult Swim which is incredibly low budget. I know Melissa Fahn from Wicked (Ensemble Member & Glinda Understudy/Temp) is an incredibly successful voice actor since before, during, & after her time in Wicked.
I specifically remember it being Espinosa he named, but I suppose there's always the chance my memory was mistaken. If it helps he mentioned that his mother-in-law had also been on Broadway before. Looking at my Uber history, it was not Joseph Abate who drove me, but some guy named Rob. He did not seem to be joking or exaggerating. So either it was another Elphaba and I've gotten mixed-up, or Espinosa's quietly gotten divorced and remarried within the last year or two.
Very strange incident, either way.
Very curious to hear reports on this production, particularly given that it seems this isn't the end of the road.
Also, throwing it out there, if Espinosa doesn't wish to continue on with it, Carmen Cusack would be a phenomenal choice.
