I will admit Cameron wade is very short and looks very young, but than again eva was 15 at the start of the show so I think it fits perfectly.I haven't listened to her rainbow high but i have listened to her "a new argentina" and that alone would get me to by a ticket to the show. She is SOOO fierce and has great technique
"and not full-blooded Argentinian"
YES because every actress who played eva was from argentina LOL I get your point but as long as they can sing and act the role I wouldnt care if eva was mexican or black.

I'd only like to see this if Espinosa received some serious vocal training in the mean time. She has a gorgeous voice, but lately she's sounding extra shrill and tends to go flat. She needs to work to make her bridge more fluid and less throaty.
And at the risk of aging myself, I'd really love to hear Shoshana Bean in this role. Her mix is outstanding.
I've seen Eden in a number of shows and would love to see her play Eva. I disagree that she doesn't have the chops. Yes, her voice is unique but she is a strong singer and a surprisingly good actress.
Her voice is unique in that it kills small animals and makes dogs jump out of windows.
Jordan you're killing me dude! You are on a roll this morning! LMAO!!
Wow, I didn't realize she'd gained so much weight. She looks pretty matronly now. Not that there aren't roles where it's appropriate. I don't see Eva as one of them, however. Eva's sister or mother, perhaps.
I also didn't realize she was so pitchy. She's flat (and strident) on almost the entire "audition montage" clip with Seth.
I remember liking her a lot back in her earliest "Wicked" days. Didn't care so much for this, though.

Cameron Wade's voice would be great if Evita was about a spunky red headed orphan, dreaming of a better tomorrow. As a power hungry wife of a dictator, not so much.
Is Lisa Brescia too old for Evita, now?

Ditto the Shoshana love. Sho-Sho Boo-Boo, as my best friend in college used to call her, is literally insane on the Godspell record.
Orfeh always wanted to play Evita. Did she fall off of the face of the planet? Nobody seems to care about her anymore.

I'm in complete agreement with best12bars. I was a little shocked by her... erm... stature in the video and (as mentioned in the thread regarding Sara Ramirez as Eva) physical type IS important in a piece based on an actual person (known to be petit).
And I've never been a huge fan of Eden's voice. Her placement is odd... as though she's swallowed cotton...

Eden sounds pretty when she's not belting, IMO.

you people are crazy!
I'm not really sure who Cameron Wade is, but she certainly sounds very, very young in that recording. Like high school young.
Well Audra Mcdonald did play her lol

ok Jordan, we got it, you don't like her.
No need to be an insufferable bitch about it. You said your piece now let the rest of the board have a chance to talk.
I like her I think she'd be brilliant.

Yeah I think we should give Eden a chance. She is more MORE than capable of the part.Audra Mcdonald played evita? videos??
Ok, I'm just gonna say it...if Eden's weight is "historically inaccurate" for a part based on a real person, then so is race too! There it is, beat me up all u want, I assure you all I'm not a racist and Audra is brilliant, but not for this...less we forget the vocal problems she experienced as Bess, and Evita is a whole different ballgame for her vocal range. She is a star none the less and her talent is impeccable!

if one follows that same logic neither Patti or Elaine should have played the role. I also think that the weight she's put on isn't a large amount and would come off very easily.
Patti and Elaine were pretty tiny when they played Evita.
What's that, Kurt? You want me to reiterate how I feel? OK!
Things I would rather do than listen to her scream (sing) at me:
1) Swim through a pool filled with hypodermic needles
2) Operate on myself
3) Have sex with a port authority hooker
4) See IN MY LIFE again
5) Drink a gallon of snake urine

let me be clear I don't mind you expressing your opinion, just as I have, but I feel that you are being vicious and mean spirited for no reason. That's my only problem.
No reason?? SHE SCREAMED AT ME FOR 2 HOURS AND MADE MY EARS FEEL LIKE THEY WERE TRYING TO ESCAPE FROM MY BODY, THEY WERE IN SO MUCH PAIN!!!
NO REASON?!?!
