well, clearly you're not going to act like an adult. I'm going to go enjoy my copy of Brooklyn.

Eden could Totally lose the weight by the time of the show. Her voice is incredible.Mandy could totally do it but I think eden has more edge to her voice. Both would Be fantastic Though.I CAN'T see shoshanna as evita.I dont know why i just can't see it.She would have amazing riffs though.Audra has such a magestic voice and has that quality that makes you feel like your in a dream but I think she is to old for the part now.
Here is my list of Eva's id like to see:
-Sierra Boggess.the girl can sing anything. She is becoming Andrew lloyd webbers's go to gal,so i dont why she hasnt played evita yet.
-Idina Menzel. ha just kidding
-lEA michelle.dont kill me! i know what your thinking but i think lea would be amazing as eva.she is young, has a range out of this world, and from what ive heard:is totallty a diva. Its perfect!
-Mandy.We all have heard her sing rainbow high as a joke and it was pretty fantasmical.
- Eden Espinos. Its not like a music director isnt there to help her smooth out her so called "shrill" notes
-Patti lupone.HAHAHA i dont care if she is way to old for it now. They NEED to do an anniversary show like les mis did and have the original cast sing.Im pretty sure she can still sing it in th original key.
I think even Eva Peron would tell Lea Michele to tone down the bitchiness.
Does anybody understand "types" anymore?
Sierra Boggess? Lea Michelle?
You might as well have added Doris Day, Maureen McCormick, Janet Jackson, Dakota Fanning, and Carol Burnett to the list.
There are no more "types". There's "can sing and should be in GLEE/ WICKED" and then there's everybody else.
So if they can hit the notes, they should play the part.
Gotcha.
They don't have to be able to hit the notes, that's what autotune is 4.
Oh!
So that narrows it down to everyone on the planet.
I vote for Clint Eastwood for Juan Peron. He's already been rehearsing with an empty chair for Art of the Possible.
And Eva Peron? ... Melissa McCarthy is overweight, white, and hilarious, so she'd be perfect.
Don't be stupid. They have to at least look like they could be students on GLEE so....oh nevermind, Eastwood & McCarthy would be perfect.
(Apologies if it has been mentioned before, the thread got a little too negative for my liking. However..) I wonder what the chances are of Sara Ramirez joining the show as Eva when Elena leaves. It's no secret she wants to play the role and (although she isn't a major name) I definitely think she could get people in the seats if/when Ricky leaves. And she'd sure sing the heck out of the role..
I think Annelise Von Der Pol would make a great Eva!
This is completely out of nowhere, but I didn't want to start a new thread for it.
But you don't think they'll put Kathy Voytko in the show, will they? I did not like her portrayal in the tour. She was okay in NINE but she was also ensemble for that one.

Sadly this is the way the younger generation of Broadway theatregoers appear to think these days...this sort of mentality is rife on these boards.
Which is sad, because I really don't like Glee/Wicked-style singing. But it seems this is what a lot of posters here want from Evita. I'd rather see an aged Patti do the role again than any of these former Wicked people. Thank God the original idea of this revival starring Idina Menzel back in 2006 never came to fruition. And thank God for different performers out there, like Elena Roger.
I never understood ALW's love for Boggess. Am I alone?
I like her voice, but her facial expressions whilst acting can be a bit much.

It's easy to think about casting eva when thinking about wicked. Both lead characters belt alot throughout the show.Just because some of these actresses were in wicked your are saying they shouldn't play eva?
I frankly dont care if Eden was in wicked,I like the image of her as eva because she can SING the part and has that patti lupone type of voice.Same goes for Mandy. Both of them being in wicked is just a coincidence. I thought Eden should play eva when I heard the brooklyn soundtrack. This has nothing to do with wicked.
However I will agree that im glad the Idina revival back in 2006 never did happen.I love Idina and wicked but she would be all wrong for the part.
The younger generation is not fixated on wicked as much as you think. But if some of us are its because....ITS A GOOD MUSICAL!It also gets kids/teens to go to the theatre.Whats wrong with that?
I would consider myself in the "younger generation" and YES i like GLEE and WICKED but I dont worship them.In fact my FAVORITE shows are Les mis and Next to Normal, which are 2 very dark emotional musicals.
Stereotyping teenage theatre people is never a good thing.
"I never understood ALW's love for Boggess. Am I alone?"
Cause Boggess is just Boggess.
You act like it's atypical for musical-theatre-loving teenagers to like Les Miz.

No not really. My best friends are theatre nuts and they hate les mis. They say it's long and boring.I disagree Obviously but every indiviusal has there own taste.Im not going to hate them or bash them cause they disagree with me about a musical. That would be foolish
So you feel like people on the board hate YOU and bash YOU because you like a certain musical/performer they do not like?
I think Annelise van der Pol could be really good. Is Sara too tall, or old for that matter? That being said, Elena doesn't look like a teenager. Lol. I wouldn't mind Idina in a concert version. But at this point I doubt as would be a replacement in a revival of "Evita."
Forget this. Jan Maxwell probably has the role in the bag.

LOL WHAT? haha no.No one is bashing me Lol.I dont think anyone is bashing anyone. I dont have a problem with people not liking eden or mandy or idina or whoever.Like I said, everyone has there own taste.Im just saying,If you dont like a performer,Make sure you dont like them for the right reason.Thats all im saying.
If people dont like wicked or les mis Thats fine.like i said: I dont worship these musicals. Hope that clears stuff up :)

I agree. If Eden or Mandy or Sara or anyone can deliver in the role why not give them a chance? If they're too tall or whatever does that really matter in the grand scheme of things? Everyone brings something different to a role and it should be about their performance not the way they look or what show they come from IMHO.

While I have been amused by Jordan's disdain for Eden's voice. I find it ironic that he complains of her screaming while discussing Evita.
While Patti sounds OK on the OBC recording, if you watch or listen to any of the many bootlegs of her performance, or take Patti's word for it, she screamed through the whole damn show. She had no idea how to sing the role for the entire length of her Broadway run. It is actually quite painful to the ears in certain sections.
If it is Eden screaming her way through the show that alarms you, at least she will be in good company. I do have to admit though, while Patti may slur her way through most things, she does not scream through everything. The same cannot be said for others.

Jimmy, LuPone most definitely used to shout her way through Evita. Watch her Tony performances of anything Evita related: her trick is to graze the note, and then slide down from it. Espinosa actually has a G5 in her bag of vocal tricks.
And Catalano, don't you start again. Your comments, though entertaining, are disparaging and rude.
