Does anyone know how long her contract is for? Thanks
First of all, it's EspinoSa, no 'z'.
And, just like all of the Elphaba's, I'm sure her contract will be for 1 year.
The woman hasn't even started performing yet. There's only so much we can know. . .
She's incredible in the role. Definitely try to catch her.

She is absolutely amazing in the role. Catch her for sure. I am going to take my BF to see it when she comes into the show. I told him I wouldn't subject him to Rue's Morrible until she was gone.
She has a great voice for Elphaba...however, her acting is not as good as Idina's or Shoshana's.
I loved her in the show. Her voice is amazing and she is beautiful in green.
I think that her acting is just as strong as Idina's acting
I think she's brutal. She sings under pitch, only her higher notes are good. She is just as bad as Jenna Leigh Green at the part.
Ze emcee, I just want to know when you saw either Eden or Jenna Leigh Green in the part before you make those assumptions.
Here is a link of Eden, and no I do not think that she is underpitch http://www.youtube.com/watch.php?v=zk7h6FkLtyU

I love Eden and my school is going to see her in Wicked in March. I may go...
Why does she scream for goodness sake!? Thanks for saving me a trip to see Wicked.
Are all Wicked events like that where teenagers scream rudely during songs? I've gone to other concert like events and never have heard such disrespect. These fans think they are supportive or whatever but it sounds obnoxious...
yes, all wicked teens scream bloody merder, but you have to admit, that she is really good!

That video gave me chills! She is amazing!!!!!
She's phenomenal. I absolutely adore her voice. And the 'Oops' when the glass broke was soo cute.
She sounded great in that video. She's a wonderful singer.
I saw Jenna Leigh in Chicago, and Eden in New York when it opened.
For anyone (above) who is commenting on Eden's singing or acting ability, have you seen her LATELY? I'm afraid some people are making opinions based on what they may have seen on the NYC stage back when she was Idina's understudy.
Because if you haven't yet seen her as of late, namely the Wicked Tour SF run or her Town Hall Concert, then I recommend you revise your stance.
Because she is utterly remarkable. Her Elphaba was ravishing during the Wicked SF Tour and she completely owns this role. As far as personifying Elphaba's age and youthful Act I nature, she nails it. And her voice is exceptional, especially belting high notes and adding specialized flair to some songs. She is going to be remarkable come 01-10-06.
One final note:
I filmed that video (link above). Hahaha
That was at Wicked SF Tour Sephora (Stila makeup launch) 08-19-05. As for the cheering, give us a freakin' break. We hadn't had Wicked in town for over 2 years and this was a live performance. If you read Eden's expressions and had you been there to meet/see the performance, you'd have recognized she was loving it. Have you not heard any recordings or been to any "landmark" Wicked performances? Whether or not the audience is flooded with teenagers, we cheer and applaud during any part that's worth recognition (ie. Final shows, first shows, or special appearances). Apologies for fanship? Nope.
EDEN ROCKS AND WILL KNOCK DOWN THE GERSHWIN DOORS!
I am really excited to see someone new in this role. And I am excited that Eden is having a "go at it" since I missed her during her first run in Wicked.
Eug, true true words!
Personally, I really enjoy Ms. Espinosa. I can't understand why people say she "screams" or whatever it is they say. I can understand that her voice isn't everyones metaphorical bag of tea, but I love it. I saw her in "Brooklyn," and although it wasn't the greatest show, I thought she was quite good. I really want to see her in "Wicked" because the material is much better than that of "Brooklyn." So, I'll be there in Jan for sure!

I think a lot of people are basing their judgments perhaps on the BKLYN cast recording. The last note in Once Upon a Time isn't her strongest on the CD, but when I saw her in the show live, she nailed it. Maybe she was just having an off night when they recorded the cast recording? Keep in mind, they did it in front of a live audience too.
