!!!
Will anyone be able to see this? Could it possibly show up in the States?
Is this a musical or just a dance show?

Waitaminute.
In my excited skimming, I missed that. Dance?
Um.
Does this piece really lend itself to that medium?
I've been waiting for this production for a while now. Can't believe it's almost here. :)
One of my favorite movies...I think it will be beautiful.

I can see great potential for Edward as a dance piece. I am smiling just thinking of the chance to see this one day.

Perhaps I simply don't know enough about dance to imagine it in a non-parodical way.
I would love to see it as a straight play, though. Imagine what they could do with the sets.
I think it would be cool to have a Tim Burton musical.
The sets would be beatiful!

I think there was a post about this a month or so ago...yes, it will be an interesting thing to see, I do love the movie though.

I dunno as much as I am a fan of Edward Scissorhands (i was even him for halloween this past year), I feel that Tim Burton's success on Broadway would be more helpful with A Nightmare Before Christmas. THis has been an idea of mine and wondering if anyone would ever act upon it for quite a while. I think that if they DO infact continue with Edward Scissorhands it should be a straight play (Drama) with some comedic undertones perhaps and some off-stage music to heighten the intensity maybe by a harpsachord(sp?). If they choose to one day do Nightmare...it would be the next Lion King/Wicked, because the tech. aspect of it would just be riveting to see and become a spectacle for so many people not even broadway literate. It would also be the next cult following musical like Rent and Wicked. Just a bit of food for thought...
Everytime I read about this happening, I think of Edward Gorey and his "look" for the sets of any Tim Burton show.
Wasn't there a Dracula show years ago with Edward Gorey sets? Or just an Edward Gorey show on Broadway?
it could be quite interesting...
I luv movie.But I couldn't see it on Broadway.
I dont think Nightmare Before... would work on stage. I've often though of it as a musical and I just don't think it would come off well. With the way the characters are in the movie (the main guy being a skeleton) i dont think it work. But prove me wrong!
It's Matthew Bourne doing it, isn't it? In which case it will be phenomenal I would imagine.
Matthew Bourne is a genius and he could literally choreograph ANYTHING and look VERY gd!!!!!!! That man is a genius!!! He choreographed my fav. shows: Mary Poppins, Swan Lake, Nutcracker and the Car Man!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait for his new show!!!!!!!!

For those of you saying there's no way to get around the technical aspects of "Nightmare Before"... I've thought about it lots, too, and couldn't Jack Skellington be a Timon-from-the-Lion-King-like puppet? I think this show could be a mixture of puppetry, makeup, dance, sets, lighting and suggestion to make the audience see what they're meant to see.
Am I the only one thinking that the role of Jack Skeleton is perfect for Tommy Tune and those long legs of his?
I guess so.
Sounds cool to me, but it could be a flop. I dunno, not many would want to go. But I would! I love Edward Scissorhands!

OMG!! I had to do a report in school to change a movie into a musical, and this was the one I did! too weird!
Could someone please clarify this- Will this be a MUSICAL or a DANCE SHOW?
I have also thought "Nightmare Before..." would make a great stage show.

It will be purely dance. Personally I can't wait - Bourne has done some fantastic theatre. 'Nutcracker' was so imaginative and 'Car Man' was a really sexy. He has some great opportunities with 'Scissorhands'.
