My mom said she was talking to her superintendent the other day (my mom works at North Hunterdon High School, in central NJ), and her superintendent was talking about how his daughter had the second lead in the Woman in White.
I did some research, and her name is Elena Shaddow. She's got a pretty impressive resume, she was in Nine, Les Mis, Fiddler on the Roof... She's in the company of WIW, and is understudy for Laura.
just wondering if anyone knows her/has heard about her/knows anything about her.
I'm seeing The Woman in White on 12-04, and SO excited:)!
Thanks!

Posted: 11/6/05 at 1:36amElena is amazing, I am a HUGE fan.... like, next big thing amazing! I was a big Nine fan, but never saw her on for Benanti, and was in Boston seeing a close friend in Candide, and discovered she was doing West Side Story an hour away at NSMT, as Maria. I went ... and WOW. Seriously.... wow! (I went back to meet her again afterwards, and I believe I met her father then too) She was so amazing, and I still have images and sound bytes from her "I have a Love" stuck in my head! I also went to her concert of Maury Yeston's "December Song" song cycle at the Encore this past August, and again.... so GREAT! I'm so happy that other people are realizing how amazing she is! I believe you can catch her Monday night at the Musicals Tonight! understudies concert, I'm not sure I can go, but trust me, she's great!

oh, Elena...she's great.
I actually did some stuff (shows, etc.) with her in high school, and she was always so amazing. She was always my mom's fave in the shows, etc. Actually, lol, my mom almost named my lil sis Elena - but not necessarily AFTER Elena Shaddow, she just got introduced to the name that way.
She's honestly one of, if not the, sweetest people I've ever worked with. I'm so glad she's finding such success because she truly, truly deserves it!
I hope I get to see her in something soon.
ps. I think Laura, the character she's understudying, is being played by Jill Paice, correct? She actually went a school where a bunch of my friends went, I saw her as Maria in WSS there a few y ears back - such a small world....

I would love to see Elena in Woman in White. I am so happy for her. I hope she stays until February so I can see her.
Elena's dad works for the school in NJ. I didn't know that, I have not seen her parents in such a long time.

Posted: 11/25/05 at 11:39amI saw the show last night and thought Elena was great as Laura. I didn't know there was already a thread for this so I posted a mini review on the Jill Paice out of WIW thread. Elena's voice is beautiful. She is much more of a soprano than Jill is. And I think I like that much more for Laura. Plus the girl is just beautiful!

Posted: 11/25/05 at 12:36pmI caught Elana on Wednesday night and she was GREAT! I thought she sounded richer then the other Laura but she doen't look anything like Agenla Christian and they are supposed to. But other then that the show is in everyway just as good.

As much as I love Elena, did you need to ressurect a 6 month old post to tell us three times your wonderful news? You will love her, but you could start a new thread.
