Elphie--yeah, maybe we did!! I thought Sutton was overacting a little in some scenes, but I think you can get away with that with the character of Jo. She's supposed to be overdramatic, so it didn't really bother me.
Yeah, I felt like a loser at the stage door. I've never done that before, and I was just so excited to meet them that I basically just said good job and asked for an autograph and picture...ah well, maybe if I get to see it again I can actually say something of worth! I was a little better at the "Avenue Q" stage door the next day...actually didn't say the exact same thing to everyone!! Haha...now I'm rambling...

Read the Broadway Abridged take on Little Women.
It's brilliant.

Funny you should say that -- when I saw LW a couple of weeks ago, I felt like Sutton was really overacting the part of Jo, as well. I just figured it was her style, though, because I felt the same way when I saw "Millie", but attributed that to the show's overall over-the-top feel, and the fact that the other actors were playing their parts in the same, very big, way. But in LW, Sutton's portrayal of Jo felt too big, especially when you contrast it with Maureen McGovern's marvelously (and by comparison, understated) portrayal of Marmee. It made me feel like the director didn't have a terribly consistent idea for the overall feel of the show (is it slapstick? is it drama? is it a dramedy?)
And speaking of Maureen, when she pulled out the big guns with her crescendos in "Days Of Plenty", the audience was practically on its feet and clapped for several minutes after she left the stage. Wow, is that woman a powerhouse!!!

It's no longer politically correct to refer to this show as LITTLE W-O-M-E-N". The preferred title is now "LITTLE P-E-R-S-O-N-S"
Thank you very much.
