Well, Dick Van Dyke was so convincing as a born-and-bred Cockney. It will be hard for Lin to reach that level of naturalism.

So Meryl is Mary's cousin, I am thinking this will only be a glorified cameo scene like Uncle Albert or Mrs Corry's shop. I wouldn't mind that at all better than having her out stay her welcome.
