From the producers that brought us Glory Days, A Catered Affair, and Frankenstein off-Broadway.

yeah, Karen Ziemba!
A successful track record, indeed.
According to the producers, "Empire is a celebration of the American spirit embodied by those who built what was then the tallest structure in the world, the Empire State Building. With big dance numbers, pop-driven melodies and captivating spectacle, Empire puts a contemporary spin on the classic musicals of the '40s and '50s."
The article then explains that the action takes place from 1929 to 1931. What about that requires "pop-driven melodies" or a "contemporary spin"? The idea for the story sounds wonderful, but conceptually, the alarm bells of skepticism are going off. My eyebrow...she is raised.
Hopefully there will be a role for King Kong in it.

A lot of people really liked ACA, and besides, at least these producers aren't just serving up adaptation after adaptation of hit movies. Cool out, Raul Esparza
Sounds like some major suckage.
But I've been wrong before.

Wow! I can't help but be impressed.
I've always loved that building, and now I have a view of it from my new home. I've also been a long time fan of 20's and 30's musicals, so put me into the core audience.
I wish them all the best!
Well I have some faith, I loved A Catered Affair, and this sounds promising.
Lets let them try...we can't afford to bash it and have it close before it opens...broadway needs new shows...lets keep our mouths shut :-p

I wish someone would make a musical out of "The Fountainhead." There's a beautiful love story there if you strip it down!
(Sorry, this just reminded me of it)
