This is great news and, to be honest, not really a big surprise. I had heard thru the grapevine that it was very much being considered despite the Opera North recording from England release last year (which is wonderful, by the way). As it was explained to me, the Kurt Weill Foundation considered the Opera North recording more of full archive/educational one, while the Encores recording, with its Broadway leads and shorter tracklist would be considered a more commercial recording... thus justifying their approval/backing of both recordings. And who can complain about getting 2 recordings of this wonderful score?
