Posted: 4/5/12 at 11:37pmFor what it's worth, I really enjoyed the show (even though it's not exactly a great piece of writing by any means). Tracie Bennett is giving one of the best performances I have ever seen onstage. There is some serious magic happening in that theater eight times a week. I hope she wins the Tony.

Posted: 4/7/12 at 1:49amAlec Baldwin tweeted that he saw the show Friday night and called Bennett "a tsunami." I'm assuming he meant an uncontrollable, destructive force?

No, he meant she's a BIG DRIP!

tsunami: a large, often destructive, sea wave...leading to the erosion of foundations and the collapse of bridges and seawalls, moving houses and overturning railroad cars. Considerable damage is caused by the resultant floating debris, including boats and cars, which become dangerous projectiles that may crash into buildings, break power lines, and start fires.
The effects of a tsunami are devastating. They are one of the world's worst natural disasters that can hit a country....The effects of the tsunami on the country during this period range from destruction and damage, death, injury, millions of dollars in financial loss, and long lasting psychological problems for the inhabitants of the affected region.
The foaming white tsunami turned black on landfall as it bought death and destruction and crushed everything in its path. It churned up the earth, shredded buildings, trees and crops and tossed boats and cars around like corks. The sludge surged inland surrounding homes where survivors waved white sheets from top floor windows, desperate for help.

I prefer Elaine Stritch's comment..'You are wonderful Tracie.'
Now she does know what she's talking about when it comes to entertaining.
...............
It is apparent now from other tweet comments that, the tsunami one is intended to be very complimentary

Can someone advise please? Is this forum for slating productions/performers, particularly if one has not seen it/them?
Can we post our true feelings about entertainment, or is it a rule that one must criticise and be sarcastic with anyone saying nice comments? Is it just a clique whereby relatively new posters aren't welcome?
I thought Reginald the most fair/sensible poster, so far.
Puzzled.

I think it's a forum where people can post whatever their thoughts are, on any number of topics.
It can be their anticipation of a show they've yet to see, or a legendary show they've only read about and heard recordings of, or, yes, shows they've seen and are reporting on.
And I think new posters who are eager to share opinions with the board are always welcome. But sometimes people just want to have their opinion heard and deny others their right to differ. And if a poster is new and/or if they post only on one topic, over and over, it's difficult for others to take them too seriously.
I think having the opportunity to share our passions is what the board is all about. And it's exciting to be excited about a show or a performer. But if someone isn't here for the give and take, they're probably not going to have a very good time.

Oh, I see. Being from the UK I can only comment on transfers from the West End as I don't have the privilege/luck/money to fly out to see the many wonderful productions on Broadway, I am 'stuck' with the one I have seen transfer.
I'd perhaps be better not coming on here as I can't really contribute. Sorry about that. Reginald.
P.S...from all accounts/interviews she seems to be one lovely woman and still grounded/modest/humble and its a bit insulting to a UK star to slate her. IMO that is.

skip the ads. She's interviewed in this video.

No need to apologize; no need to leave, for that matter.
I was just trying to answer your question. But you have to undertstand that if you're interested in discussing only one topic, you're bound to run into people with whom you disagree.

I don't understand this, further up someone put up the Huffington Post review, but it differs tremendously from this one. Is it the same news paper?

"Before There Was Whitney, There Was Judy"????????? Dear lord, talk about a reach.

So you put up an oversize picture of Judy at her worst to prove what? That you can show her looking as bad as the playwright can?
Is that all you come to this board for? To post ugliness about a dead celebrity?
Sheesh. What'd Judy ever do to you?

Worst? That was her happiest day..her wedding day with Mickey Deans. The photo/quote is in his book, 'Weep No More My Lady'.
It looks to me that, she's just made everyone laugh.
It's rather shallow just noticing looks.

Posted: 4/16/12 at 8:27pmThanks for the lover-ly pics, artscallion! I don't think I've ever seen that one at the makeup table...it looks like she's saying to herself "Last time I'll ever let Joan Crawford tell me what I should do with my eyebrows..."
