Does anyone know what might be behind this? Is it doing badly already?

And they're charging $60 for this in St. Paul?

"From July 18-23, the Mark Schoenfeld-Barri McPherson musical will be presented by Theatre Under The Stars as the annual free show at the Miller Outdoor Theatre. The musical will play nightly at 8:15 PM."
No, its an outdoor theater. Every event presented at that theater is FREE OF CHARGE. Check the fans website for more info.

Calm down.
Theatre Under The Stars in Houston does this every year at that outdoor theatre. The bring in or produce a musical free. Every year. Calm down.

I wouldn't even see this show again for free. You'd have to pay ME to sit through this again.
Strange, I didn't see ANYONE on this theard asking you to see it Yankee.

Just stating my opinion, Tiny.

If it were coming close enough to me, I'd pay to see the show. I just want to see Diana in the role.
They brought the Big River revival tour to the same venue. Theatre Under the Stars is a non-profit organization that receives special funding for their outdoor performances, so they don't have to rely on ticket sales while providing free theatre performances for the general public. Sometimes they are in-house productions and sometimes they contract a tour. It's a boost for the tour as they will receive a guaranteed fee rather than having to rely on subscriptions and individual ticket sales.

Based on what Mister Matt posted, it sounds like a win-win situation all around. I wish I lived near Houston. I'd love to see this show -not so much because I want to see Brooklyn but I want to see what Diana DeGarmo can do with the role.
Yeah, they do this every year, but since we're season ticket holders, we always get something in the mail about donating money to TUTS to help pay for the show they do for free each year. We got one asking for money for Brooklyn today.
I wish it had been free in NYC, I'd have saved $53.
That's called knowing the value of your product.
I actually think this is kind of a smart idea. If I lived near Houston, I'd go see it. Not because I want to see the show again (once was enough), but just to see Diana's take on it.
Yes, once was enough. Im glad some people did enjoy the show though. Dancingthrulife: Which musical did you like better? BKLYN or In My Life?
well the show with diana is supposed to be amazing
i have heard amazing things , and she sounds awseom
so does lonna ,she is the understudy for bklyn and faith and she is fantastic
I liked Brooklyn when it was on Broadway... maybe I'm the minority...

That's cool. I wonder if people will still show up? I'd imagine with Diana in the lead, people will come see it.

Why wouldn't people show up? If people are willing to pay full price for this show just to see Diana DeGarmo (cause lets face it, the general public knows nothing of this show otherwise), they'll certainly see it for free.
I was planning on seeing it before Diana was announced.
