I'm in the process of planning a trip to New York this summer, and am wondering whether there is an equivalent of the Theatre Monkey website that shows where all the best and worst seats are for West End theatres. ( http://www.theatremonkey.com/ )
Any help would be fantastic.

Broadway theaters in general have better sight lines than West End theaters. Very few have the Second Balcony that often is and causes obstructed views, only the New Amsterdam, the Belasco, the Walter Kerr, the Lyceam, and the Palace, have them and are rarely sold because none of the shows in them are sell outs
It's a general rule of thumb that all Boxes are obstructed as well as being on the extreme sides
For shows with know obstructions are
NEWSIES back of the orchestra I'd say behind Row M in the orchestra is obstructed, as well as the extreme sides of the orchestra
Nice Work the sides of the Mezz in general of the Impereial are know to be obstructed
I know ghost has some, but not exactly sure where they are located, but other than that just stick to the general rule of thumb, do not sit in the extreme sides or in the boxes and you should be fine.
****CORRECTION: The St James and Foxwoods also have second balconies, the only one that is likely to be in use is the Foxwoods for Spiderman. I honestly dont think Bring It On is going to sell out the St James****

Many thanks for your response.
So sticking with anywhere in the front mezzanine should be safe for all Broadway theaters?

Yes with the only acception being Nice Work which seat 5 in to the aisle on the extreme side front mezz are obstructed
Slight note on Newsies their is a bar in the front of the mezz that does not obstruct the 1st row, but you have to sit foreward to see over it
Other than that yes front menzz is a goodbseat for all theaters

The Shubert and the Cort also have second balconies.

Posted: 5/24/12 at 1:45pmI have never been in the shubert, ironically, no desire to see memphis and by the time i got around to spamalot it closed, so that is understandable, but I have been in the Cort several times and have never seen a 2nd balcony, unless its like the Kerr where it is basically just a single row of seats...that one can easily mistake for the lighting booth.
