I rushed Equus last Tuesday. I got to the box office at around 9:57 or so and got center onstage seats, row B. The seats were pretty uncomfortable and very obstructed and we ended up viewing the second act from the second row of the orchestra thanks to open seats.
You shouldn't have a hard time getting rush tickets even after 10 though, so don't sweat it.

Yes.
I didn't think the onstage seats were that bad. I actually really liked them. I'd prefer sitting there than the mezzanine or rear orchestra; it's so much more intimate. I missed a few of Richard Griffiths's lines during his speeches when he faced the house head-on (the stage direction says the actor should address the onstage seating as well *ahem*) but being able to feel your seat shake with the horses' hooves and such more than made up for that.
My only problem was the rather large girl sitting next to me whose thighs encroached on my space so much that I had to sit 90 degrees sideways the entire show.

I tried requesting a seat in the audience when I went to rush EQUUS and the box office guy said no.
Apparently if all of the on-stage seats have been sold, they will start selling seats in the audience for rush.
The show is not even close to selling out, so your best bet for rush is to get there like 30 minutes prior to curtain, at which point hopefully all of the on-stage seats will be sold for the performance and they won't have any choice but to sell you a rush seat located in the house.

Posted: 11/28/08 at 10:09amI got there at around 2:30 on Friday afternoon and got the last seats - far stage left. They were great seats - nearly totally unobstructed - and were definitely better than the ones stage right or upstage center.

Posted: 12/30/08 at 5:41pmAnyone know if rush will be available for the friday 2pm show? Also, how crowded has it been recently?

Posted: 12/30/08 at 11:38pmI got there at 7 pm for an 8 pm show on Monday and they still had tickets left. Might've been because it was a monday, but who knows.

Posted: 1/2/09 at 10:54pmJust wondering - but does Equus rush offer other seats than just on stage seats? A friend of mine is going to go rush for it before it closes, but prefers not to sit in the onstage area.

Posted: 1/3/09 at 12:18amFrom what I remember reading, yes, but only if all of the on-stage seating has been sold.

Posted: 1/23/09 at 7:24pmIn case anybody wants more info: I went by the theatre at 4:15 today and got rush tickets in the back of the mezzanine (row J). I'll report after on how the seats are.

Posted: 1/24/09 at 12:25amSo yeah, the seats were great. The theatre's not huge enough that the back of the mezzanine is unpleasant to watch from. Plus, I got to move up to the third mezzanine row during intermission. A FANTASTIC show, too. Daniel Radcliffe has REAL talent and naturality.

Posted: 1/25/09 at 10:28pmI did the rush today with my cousin. We got to the theater at around 1:00 pm and got row J side mezzanine seats for the 3:00 pm matinee. The theater is not that big (we didn't feel far away at all) and we had a perfect view. If you haven't seen this play yet you should definitely try to make it out before it closes!

Posted: 1/26/09 at 6:58pmI went to get rush tickets an hour before the show and they were for row J rear mezzanine but the usher got confused and put us in row J orchestra. We kept our mouths shut and nobody came to claim the seats, so we got really great seats for $30.
