I am going to NYC to see Gypsy on the 9th and after I stage door there, I was wondering if I could stage door at Equus. I heard you had to have a ticket to stage door.
They pen you up at the stage door, one side for people who actually saw the show, and one side for people who did not see the show. There is also usually a crowd across the street as well.

Apropos of nothing, but IMO, stage-dooring is a great way to express your enthusiasm for something you've just seen at that performance -- or, at the very least, have seen at some point and want to let the performer know how much you enjoyed their performance in the show in which they're doing in that particular show. IMO.

The crowds start forming at the stage door well before the end of the performance, for both the ticketed and non-ticketed barricades. So after stage dooring Gypsy you'll be able to join the huge crowd, but you will not get anywhere near enough to the front to actually get an autograph or picture. Daniel Radcliffe and Richard Griffiths only sign the very front row, and even then they can skip some.
