Equus film version remake

Equus film version remake

Equus film version remake#1

Aside from the weird gossip that Zac Efron is "being considered" to take over for Radcliffe, I'm wondering if there has been any talk of remaking the film version, with Radcliffe repeating his stage role. I think this would be a moneymaker and would also give everyone a chance to see this performance for those who couldn't get to the stage production.
I thought the movie version with Richard Burton was ok, but the acting from the actor playing Radcliffe's role (sorry can't remember his name - to lazy to look it up - was outstanding.

I could see them perhaps taping the live performance for Showtime or something like that - but as the original film illustrated, the play doesn't film all that well without the blatant theatricality of the stage production.

There had been a mention of a film early in previews, but I'm not sure if they were simply referring to the Broadway archives, which recorded the show during its second week.

I agree with Michael Bennett -- I see no reason for a second film version of Equus.

Efron, if you really want to see him opens in 'Joseph' in London's West End next Feb! Like I said, if you really want to!

Major rewrites would be needed. In today's society, they would pop the teenage boy some pills in the form of Prozac and he wouldn't be asking smarty pants questions about his psychiatrist's sex life.

In a TV interview yesterday, I think it was Access Hollywood but am not sure, Efron said there was no truth to the Equus story.

Not that it has much bearing on whether or not they'd make a movie if they thought it'd make money, but the one thing most reviews of this production agreed on was that the play itself really hasn't aged very well, which isn't super encouraging for a film version.

It would make a great spoof, tho.
