Of course it isn't a stated fact. But someone with OCD may want (or need to have) all their utensils or food lined up perfectly.

That's right. I have a friend with OCD and one of his habits is lining things up perfectly. Utensils, food, carpets, everything in his apt!

Come to think of it, a very common habit of those with OCD is that they cannot leave the house unless everything is lined up just so. My friend's toaster must be a certain amount of inches away from the blender, glasses must be lined up according to color and size, etc. He has to eat a certain amount of peas balanced out with the number of pieces of meat, etc.

That sketch certainly does suggest OCD to me.

I'm aware of that. I also know an autistic child that has to have all his food lined up perfectly as well and he has no symptoms of co-morbid OCD. The ritualistic behavior isn't attached specifically to one disorder and is very common amongst people with autism; there was no reason to make the OCD assumption.

- Huh? Of course there was a reason to make the OCD assumption. Considering someone with OCD may want all their utensils lined up. Autism has many, many, many symptoms, the sameness/routine behahior symptom is not the MAIN one. OCD is based on the routine/ritualistic behavior.

I'm aware of the symptoms, thank you. The picture was introduced as autism; jordangirl assumed the picture OCD, so it was therefore wrong. The picture portrays a routine behavior, not OCD or autism, and it could be accurate for either disorder. That was the point I was trying to make.

I was not:
Implying that Monk has Autism
Implying that Autism is the same as OCD
Insulting people with OCD or Autism

I was just making a parody of a post on POL.net

This whole thing is stupid.
