Hi folks,
I've been searching google for some answers to my question but haven't found much. I was wondering if anyone here was familiar with the O'Neil play Touch of the Poet? More specifically, the role of Mike Malloy. In all the synopsis of the show I can find, he doesn't seem to be mentioned much. Is he a small part, a large part? Any details I could be given. The reason I ask is that I'm planning to audition for the play in a few days and am not too familiar with it.
Thanks in advance, as always
If you can't find much mention of him, I'd ASSUME that should tell you he isn't a very "big" role. (But that's not a guarantee.)
It's a play that shouldn't be too difficult to find either at a bookstore (in a collection of O'Neil's work)or at the library. This is one I haven't read since college....so I can't be of any specific help. (College was a LONG time ago!)
If you spell his name right when you search, you might have more luck.

It's called a typo, so why don't you just calm down and crawl back to your lair.
Thank you dramamama,
I've been to a few BN and they haven't had it .. which is odd. I'll have to start digging around some a little further away from me. I assumed the role wasn't huge, but I was unable to find even a mention. Anyway, thanks you.

Do you mean Mickey Maloy?
You'd probably have better luck at a library.

Gothampc,
I did mean Mickey Maloy, I was heading to bed as I typed the post so I apologize for all the typos.

Hi,
I know the play fairly well and had the good fortune of seeing it several years ago with Gabriel Byrne. It's definitely a supporting role, who is one of Cornelius' drinking buddies. He has several good scenes, where's he's needed to help establish Cornlius' proclivity for drinking and foolishness. It's a relatively small, but good, character part. Good luck in the audition!!!
Let me see if I understand this. You are auditioning for the play but don't want to bother reading the play first? It's easy to get a copy at any library. Why ask about the role -- why not read the play so you can have an intelligent audition?

Dear Patash,
Of course I will read the play. I simply posted my question at a time when I could obviously not have gone to a library or a bookstore...at 1:15am. I always like to research the character and play a little bit before I read it, maybe find people who have played the role, are fans of the show etc. Please do not question my intelligence, I was just doing a little research along with reading the play.
Ed_Mottershead,
Thank you for your post. I was unaware there was a recent production, I had never heard of the play before.

Dear ? ?,
O'Neill is one of the greatest playwrights in history. A TOUCH OF THE POET is a famous work. Simple to find.
I do not think your many mistakes have anything to do with lateness. Just pure laziness.
Best of luck at your audition.
