Evan Rachel Wood to Star in Taymor Beatles Film Musical

Evan Rachel Wood will star in director Julie Taymor's untitled musical romance (aka All You Need Is Love) for Revolution Studios, reports Variety. The film will feature 18 songs by the Beatles.

The love story about a British boy and an American girl is set against the backdrop of the social upheaval of the 1960s. Although not about the Beatles, the musical will use their songs to drive the narrative, with the actors singing and dancing to the classic tunes.

Production is slated to begin in September. The film was written by Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais.

That is one HOT girl..hehe...and Jewish too (although VERY Aryan looking). Hah... and she's not too young for me.

I am really excited about this though. It has potential. I don't think people should dismiss it just because it's a "jukebox musical"...I think Taymor will surprise.

I know Moulin Rouge isn't universally loved, but I liked it. And that was definitely a big ol' jukebox movie musical.

i'm not a fan of the jukebox musicals, but julie taymor is one of the most brilliant directors alive and i'm sure she'll do something special. and evan rachel wood is pretty great too.

No, it is still in production. Evie is singing "Blackbird" in it and it is beautiful of course I'm partial though. There is also one number with nude Asian dancer's (very Cirque) that is gorgeous as well.

I heard the script is good from someone who auditioned for it. I know they are filming at Katz's deli soon- like in the next two weeks.

I think it has a lot of potential- it would have been interesting to do this with Bob Dylan's music too.

I would be very excited about it with Dylan music, but I think the Beatles music will be very interesting. I also tend to think the screen will be a better place to engage "catalogue musicals."

Some current Rent cast will appear in this movie. I know Matt Caplan and Antonique Smith for sure. It sounds interesting!

The comments on imdb from people who claim to have seen it don't seem to be that positive. I wonder when the film will come out and what kind of release it will get.

Hmm... not sure how I feel about this. I think Evan Rachel Wood is great, but I'm getting tired of all the jukebox musicals. Although, I'd rather see them just done on film instead of taking up space on Broadway.

Any idea when this is supposed to be released? If it's around any holiday when I'll be visiting my parents, I know my mom (aka HUGE Beatles fan) will want to go see it with me, lol.
