I saw two shows in NYC - Spamalot and Chicago. Chicago was great, but I wish I'd seen Sweet Charity instead, especially now that it's closing. Chicago will be there forever.
But that's what I get for not making my choice in the TKTS line and waiting til the last minute. :P
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

Posted: 12/19/05 at 4:13pmIs regret the right word? You did see a show and experienced it for all its glory (or faults). Does that mean you can't take anything positive out of the show you saw? You never know. The show you saw could have been much better than the one you didn't.

Posted: 12/19/05 at 4:57pmI wish that I had seen Light in the Piazza instead of The Color Purple. Like many people, I was on a budget, and I could get tix for CP at a discount. I would rather have paid full price to see half the shows on Broadway instead of CP. As you can tell, I really did not like it. I found the piece to be unfair to its characters. It treated all these heavy issues (rape, loss of family, loss of identity, etc) with a grain of salt and chose instead to focus on sexual habits of the characters. I found it to be a waste of time. On the other hand, I do give props to the actors - they were all splendid, considering the material they were given. Though - I do think that LaChanze was a bit miscast (way too pretty, IMO). This ends my rant.

Posted: 12/19/05 at 5:44pmHaven't yet been to NYC, but I wish I'd seen the Troika tour of "Phantom" (Yeston) instead of the Non-Equity tour of "Jekyll and Hyde". However, I did get to see Kelli O'Hara in that before she was on Broadway. So that was cool.

Posted: 12/19/05 at 6:07pmDuring freshman orientation, one of our events was seeing a Broadway show. My group saw Phantom of the Opera, which didn't appeal to me at all. I'm still jealous of the group that got to see The Producers.

Posted: 12/19/05 at 6:13pmI saw Little Women the second (and most recent) time I went to New York. Since I'd already seen it when it was at Duke, I now wish I'd seen Piazza instead. I'm not sure it would have been possible though, since the reason I saw Little Women was because we were able to snag student tix. I understand the Piazza student tix work a little differently.

The Lion King instead of AIDA...although I enjoyed it, TLK is still on Bway, and I was deprived of AIDA.

In April we saw Wicked, Spamalot, and RENT (again).
I wish I had seen Light in the Piazza rather than RENT, as I feel the production we saw of RENT in San Francisco in 1999 was far superior. (AND I LOVE RENT!)

Ah Les Mis, how I love thee.
I wish I would have seen The Last Five Years- I know...it's off-Broadway, but would have liked to see it when I was there.

Posted: 12/19/05 at 7:44pmIn 1999 my Mom brought me to NYC for the sole reason of taking me to see my first Broadway play. At the time I was not familiar with many musicals. It came down to two: BEAUTY AND THE BEAST and MISS SAIGON. I chose BATB because I was familiar with the story and and I liked the songs. I hadn't listened to MS yet, but th story sounded interesting. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed BATB but MS would have been a more interesting choice.
