I saw BKLYN instead of The Light in the Piazza *hits self*
But I'm seeing Piazza soon, so it's okay.

Posted: 12/19/05 at 10:56pmDo any of you regret seeing a show for second (10th/100th) time instead of seeing a new (to you at least) show?
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com

#30Ever regret seeing one show instead of another?
Posted: 12/19/05 at 11:00pmWell two different friends of mine each had tickets for shows on the same day: one for Brooklyn and one for Avenue Q. Now the Avenue Q one I wanted but he said he was taking someone else so I told BKLYN girl Id go see that. Wound up Ave Q asked me cause someone backed out and I had already said yes to BKYLN. Figures Ave Q was a free ticket but I paid my friend 60 for Bkyln. WHYYYYYYYYYYYY, I would have shot myself for that one had it not been for me and someone else winning lotto for Q in sept. I didnt get to see OBC but Barrett and Stephanie were standout and I loved it soo much. Got to see both in the end so oh well

Posted: 12/19/05 at 11:00pmI started too. Then I made a decision to see at least one new show for every repeat show when I'm in the city.

#32Ever regret seeing one show instead of another?
Posted: 12/19/05 at 11:05pmfrontrowcentre, I've yet to run into that problem since I've seen only 2 (3 on Thursday!) of the shows even playing in NYC. (I'm seeing RENT in Frankfurt [yes, Germany] on Thursday...YAAAY! I'm so excited. xD)
I remember days
Or at least I try
But as years go by
They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die
For a day of sky

#35Ever regret seeing one show instead of another?
Posted: 12/20/05 at 4:12amI was at times square TKTS booth in summer of 1987 with a BIG choice, "La Cage Auz Folles" (which would close soon!) or the revival of "Dreamgirls" at the Ambassador. I choose "Dreamgirls" and It was the ONLY show I walked out on playing Broadway other than "The Sweet Smell of Success" - which was simply a bad reason to see the great Lithgow. And, I wish I was not so tired after seeing "Les Miz" (Original Cast) or I would have went to see "Big River" (original cast, but that just didn't happen since a Star invited me to the Russian Tea Room and my Mother only raised one idiot, My Sister!)

Posted: 12/20/05 at 10:24amI loved Shogun... but I know the feeling...I'd rather have sat through anything than SWINGING ON A STAR (to date the only show I walked out of) and/or ASPECTS OF LOVE...the definition of boring...and sorry a brick wall turning into a mountain should not be THE highlight of a show...

In London a few years ago, I bought 1/2 price tickets the day of the show. They had balcony seats for My Fair Lady and orchestra seats for Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, so I took the better seats and figured I would see My Fair Lady later during my trip. I thought Chitty was a dreadful piece of tripe, and was never able to fit My Fair Lady into my schedule.
I'll also second the "Anything instead of Aspects of Love," another mistaken choice at a London ticket broker. In retrospect, I should just avoid anything with Michael Ball.

hmm well, I wish I could have had more days! we went with a group and we all went to see(3 bway, 1 offbway):
RENT
Wicked
Forbidden Bway
Avenue Q
and we had a matinee free and then one night free so I saw:
DRS
Little Women
I wish SOMEWHERE in there, I could have seen Light in the Piazza...I think it was only in previews then but I could have seen it! and met Matty to boot...I suck at life..
but I don't know what I'd replace..probably Ave Q, but taht was with the group so I already paid for that ticket loooong before I got there....hmmm

I choose MEDEA with Diana Rigg instead of THE BEST LITTLE WHOREHOUSE GOES PUBLIC.
Rigg was great, produciton was perfect...but ...ah... there will be other great Medea's and only one Original Broadway production of WHOREHOUSE/PUBLIC.
My bad.

Having seen Whorehouse/Public...It was actually not nearly as bad as thought by many. I love the CD, and seeing Leigh Zimmerman doing an eroitc dance in a clear plastic cube will be with me for the rest of my life (not bad for a gay guy). It never tried to be anything more than fun, and it was a riot. Best unearned laugh? At the curtain call, when Dee Hoty come out on a white horse who promptly relieved himself just before her dismount and bow...
I have to agree...you missed out having seen Medea...
