Report back! I'm worried about all the discounts out there - it sounds like they're not selling, and in that case they won't extend through December 14th when I arrive....

I saw it last night. I personally think it would work better as a straight (said with a wince) play than a musical. but it was quite a bit of fun and a VAST majority of that in the acting department falls on the "next Jen Cody"-like shoulders of Jenna Coker.

Most off broadway shows I've worked with do heavy papering and discounting during previews. Let's hope this show finds its audience!

It's opening at the right time, Jane, and should do some brisk Halloween sales. It's definitely fun if you enjoy camp and don't mind that it's a spoof of a b movie, which means...well, you know.

Yeah, this is a good time to open. But from years of trying to figure out why some shows do well and some don't (no matter how good or bad they are), I've given up. It's one of the mysteries of theater life. Time only will tell! Meanwhile, I'm going to watch it as often as possible-I think it's a lot of fun!

That's a smart move that would be made smarter if the show were a bit shorter, Folkyboy. it began at 8 last night wasn't over until around 10:30. They could shave it down and certainly, as the actors improve their timing, things should speed up (which will only help most of the comedy).

Has any one sat in the first few rows of the theater? I understand those seats are called the "splatter zone".

Why don't you just keep your opinons to yourself until you've seen it.
I for one will be seeing this from the splatter zone in november and can't wait. Even if it's bad, it will be worth it.

The first five rows are practically an ice-skating rink by the end of the show due to all of the blood.
There is no nudity, but there is violence, swearing, and sexuality.
This is a show that is going to change a lot over the course of previews. There are still a lot of technical aspects that need perfecting, and, quite honestly, the show is too long. I'm going to let the actors grow more comfortable with their characters more before I judge them, but it is safe to say that Jenna Coker is going to be the stand-out in this show.
"Evil Dead" has as much depth theatrically as a measuring spoon, but it is very unique, and very fun if you don't go in expecting to see "Angels in America"... :-/ If you have the money to spend on a night of mindless entertainment, or, if you are a fan of the movie, then see the show by all means.
(Now that I think about it, though, there isn't actually a lot on the boards right now that has much more theatrical value with the exception of two or three shows... Sad.)

It's bad and it's supposed to be. It's a lot of fun and entertaining. If you're looking for more than that, then don't go. SImple as that

Well, I and the audiences think it's a lot of fun. The people having the most fun are those who are familiar with the Evil Dead films. Then we have the hard core fans who want to sit in the splash zone and beg for more blood to spurt out. They wear white t shirts and the more blood stained they get, the happier they are! If the show finds a good amount of a cult following, it should do well.

Is it complete chaos? Does the audience participation destract from the show?
