I was also at My Fair Lady recently and the people behind me were complaining about Billy Bigelow being played by an African American.  I haven't seen the show, but was floored.  I didn't want to get into it with them so didn't say anything.

You should have turned around and said "Why don't you go talk to the director about Jordan Donica being cast as Freddy."

I was seated at a certain jukebox musical, and was informed by the elderly woman next to me that I was “far too young” to be there and would definitely not enjoy myself. This was a few years ago. I had just turned 26 a few days prior, which is neither here nor there I guess, but the woman quieted right down when I informed her that i had not only seen the show before, but was auditioning for it the next day. She looked me up and down, realized I looked like the main character and went “...Oh. That makes sense.” And didn’t speak so much as a word after.

Since that's what actually happened, I will continue believing the truth, thanks.
"

More like your made up version of the truth that suits your own narrative.
"

Haha. Read that to yourself, because it only applies to you. None of the things you said were ever mentioned in his story, so yes, you make up crap and assume the man was insulting him and knew who he was. It fits your (delusional) narrative. Have fun with that. Bye bye!"

Yeah I'll take it the way Lin took it, the way everyone that engaged with his tweets took it, the way everyone on this board other than a select few determined to believe that because Hamilton became as big as it did he must have become an egotistical nightmare took it. Rather than trying to twist it. Thanks though. I'm sure that despite saying bye bye you'll be back with another defensive reply.

Some of these comments people heard from condescending theatre goers, especially ones complaining about the race of certain actors or shows about specific life experiences of people not like members of the audience are things we read on this board on the regular.
