Today is Monday, October 15, marking the official opening night performance of the Off-Broadway premiere of Falling, a new play by Deanna Jent that officially opens Oct. 15 at the Minetta Lane Theater. Directed by Lori Adams, the open-ended run began previews September 27. The cast comprises Daniel Everidge, Celia Howard, Daniel Pearce, Jacey Powers and Julia Murney.
Falling is described as a new drama "about how 18-year-old Josh, who has autism, affects the lives of everyone around him. When a relative comes to visit, the entire family is thrown off their equilibrium, with everyone trying to balance what is best for the family and what is best for them."

Matthew Murray is positive:
"As a result, Falling is a legitimate tear-jerker, a solid now-and-then comedy, a gripping family drama, and even a pungent message play that knows exactly how to avoid going too far."

The NY Post is positive as well.
"Never mind that tinkly piano score you’ll hear at the start of 'Falling.' Far from receiving a mawkish, 'Hallmark Hall of Fame' treatment, Deanna Jent’s play is harrowing stuff.
Inspired by her experiences as a mother of an autistic child, this heartfelt and nuanced family drama is shot through with dark humor, as cathartic for the audience as it is for its conflicted characters."

Jent's "Falling" receives warm welcome
Hopefully Minetta Lane has a long-term tenant for once.

Very happy to see these reviews! I saw the show two weeks ago and think that Julia Murney is absolutely stunning in it. Also, Daniel Everidge's performance is really fantastic. I hope that this has a long run (is it scheduled to be open-ended or limited engagement?), it certainly deserves it.
Just wanted to chime in that I saw the show today and thought it was really terrific. Great performances all around, riveting to watch.
