How could you say that Scarlet Pimpernel was a flop? It ran 722 performances and it most certainly did not lose money.

I dont know whether DROOD turned a major profit, but I dont really consider a show that ran for two years and won a handful of Tony Awards to qualify as a flop.

I'm going to look into some of the lesser known ones that were mentioned here...some of them sound really intriguing.

With its three incarnations, Scarlet Pimpernel is rumored to have lost an estimated $20 million, which may make it the biggest money loser of all time.

And Passion did not make a profit on Broadway.

Urinetown ran 965 performances - two years, four months on Broadway, returned its investment and made a profit. Variety would classify that as a hit.
