"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Lookin' good... but what did they do to Patrick's hair? It's certainly an interesting look for him. Before you all come at me telling me it's for the role, I know, I was kidding.

Yeah. There's a bit of a discussion/debate on the POTO IMDB messageboard about Patrick Wilson's hairstyle as Raoul. Folks aren't too sure it is the right look for him...

My computer image is too dark so I can't see proper detail (I'll have to wait until I get home.) Is it an 19th century mullet???

Where are we going, and why am I in this handbasket?

The lake scene under the Opera house doesn't look so good. but Maquerade looks so good, as does the ballet. My guess is that ballet is from the beginning of the movie, you know HANNIBAL.

How can the lair scene look bad to you? It's just one still image from an entire scene...

It opens in December. I wonder if the "world" premiere will be in London or in NYC?

I am so excited about this movie! I think that the "Masquerade" scene looks spectacular! I am very interested to see the labyrinth scene during the title song. The two pictures that have been released of the Phantom and Christine in the underground lair aren't really giving and overall all glimpse of the scene, which judging by the glimps of Masqeurade, will probably be quite astounding. As for Patrick's hair, you have to admit that even in the musical, the character of Raoul is rarely ever portrayed as a manly, fearless hero. Maybe they are trying to play up even more than usual, but then again....I guess we'll just have to wait and see! I CAN'T WAIT FOR POTO TO OPEN!!!

See Ya!

Sumofallthings - Even in the novel, Raoul is seen as more of a pretty boy rich guy than a hero, so maybe they are trying to play that up! The only heroic, and amazingly talented Raoul I have seen in a while was portrayed by the awesome Michael Shawn Lewis about 2 or 3 years ago!

How old is Emmy?

I think she's 17. In the Interview magazine with Hugh Jackman on the cover, there were two big articles on both Emmy and Patrick! (Makes a lot of sense that a 17-year-old and a 30-year-old would be childhood friends, huh? :))

It looks like they got most of their inspiration from the Hungarian production.

But IMHO everything, except for Patricks hair, looks pretty good.

Thanks for posting the pics! So far...the movie looks intriguing. Let's just hope the music and the vocals come out good as well. And yes...what's up with Patrick's hair?

I LOVE THEM SO MUCH! Like everyone else said a million times, Masquerade does look really magnificent, and I happen to think Patrick's hair is appropriate for the time period. I don't think his older style haircut would have fit AT ALL.

I also like that they're doing things differently from the show. The hair, the Ballet, etc. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!
