Hey, I have a huge fan of The Wedding Singer movie from a young age. it's one of my favorite movies of all time. So when I heard they were going to do a show of it I groaned. I was afraid that it was going to turn out terribly cheesy and I didn't want one of my favorite movies to be turned into a Broadway stinker. But now that it's out, it's been nominated, and I know the cast recording is good, I'm really glad they did such a good job with such great material. Do any other movie fans have any thoughts on the transition?
I was afraid to see the show, but I ended up loving it.
It was REALLY well done. I have seen it twice so far and absolutely loved it. Don't listen to the negative comments other people on here say, because they try to compare it to classics like Dreamgirls and Les Miz. The point is, it's supposed to be fun, which it is.
I love the film version. It's the only Adam Sandler movie I can tolerate. I was a little weary of the musical adaptation but I saw it and thought it was great. So much fun and hilarious. Very faithful to the film.
I absolutley love the movie and I think that's why I hated the show.
I just couldn't shake the feeling that such a corny and bad show could compare to such a hilarious movie.

me too, i wasn't too thrilled about this movie turning into a musical, but the musical is a lot better than the movie IMO.
I didn't love the movie, but the show is fantastic.

I liked the movie, but never loved it. However, I heard the cast recording and everything came back to me. I actually played it during the long car ride to downtown L.A. yesterday for my friend, and she didn't know what it was, and before I could tell her, she asks, "Is this like 'The Wedding Singer?' It sounds like it!" So I would say even the CD is pretty faithful, let alone the show! :)
