I was hoping some of you could suggest some shows (mainly musicals) that have been recorded and are available to buy/rent. So far I have Sweeney Todd, Company, and Into the Woods (odd trend there, but they are the most readily available). Oh, and Legally Blonde. But I don't think that counts. Any other legitimate video recordings of shows I should know about?

There are videos of Victor/Victoria and 42ns Street and a few others which were shot in the theaters for Japanese TV networks. (In English with Japanese subtitles). I am not sure how many were done
There's actually a good amount of live theater on DVD.
There's an entire series called Broadway Theater Archive and another series put out by Kino video.
Here's the link for Barnum on DVD:
Check this site for theater dvds
Thank you for the suggestions. Please keep them coming, as I'd love to hear what some of your favorite recordings are. Though limited, I would have to go with ITW, if only for the fact that I really feel Gleason, Zien, and Peters were above and beyond worthy of having their show forever captured on film. And the fact that I can just put it in my DVD player anytime I want, while obviously not as powerful as the live performance, still makes me so happy.
What about you?
SOPHISTICATED LADIES
FOSSE
KISS ME, KATE
My favorite recording is Sunday in the Park with George.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but would this be the recent Sunday revival or an older production?

^It was the original production with Patinkin and Peters.
^^yeah, what he said.
I also like the recording of "Putting it Together" with Carol Burnett, George Hearn, and Ruthie Henshall.

Will Rogers Follies was done for Japanese TV but never commercially released.
There are DVDs of Joseph And the Amazing Techno. Dream coat and the revival of Jesus Christ Super Stsr
How is everyone forgetting the most notorious professionally filmed one out there...........and my favourite!?:
Jekyll & HYDE: The Musical starring DAVID HASSELHOFF (& Coleen Sexton)
Pater Pan! Two productions. One with Mary Martin, the other with Cathy Rigby.
I absolutely HATE the recording of Smokey Joe's Cafe. I just really dislike that show.
You *have* to get the Sunday in the Park with George DVD.
I have Cats on VHS kicking around somewhere, and I remember enjoying it when I was 10. It's on DVD as well if you really want to see.
There's also one of Pippin with Ben Vereen, Martha Raye, Chita Rivera, and the greastest american hero dude.
There's also Jerry Springer The Opera, Oklahoma (both RNT London) Cats, Our House,...
I really like Company, and Raul Esparza is amazing. I think the whole production was magnificently cast and directed.
Sunday is great, but the second half just isn't. Act II cannot ruin the stunning performances of Patinkin and Peters, so I would still highly recommend it.
There is a 1985 recording of Follies in concert, which is pretty good. A lot of songs were cut, and it is kind of half documentary, but Comden & Green perform brilliantly. Purchasing the recording is worth it for 2 reasons: Patinkin's rendition of Buddy's Blues, and Elaine Stritch's version of Broadway Baby.
PlaybillStore.com carries most Broadway musicals and plays available on DVD.
