Okay, none of us are shy about naming our favorite actors and actresses on this board. So let's play casting director and put them in the roles we would love to see them play. I'll start.
Rachel York is my favorite musical star and dramatic actress. I think she would be great in the following:
Evita
My Fair Lady
Funny Girl
Mack and Mabel
Wicked (as Elphaba)
A Chorus Line (as Cassie or Sheila)
On the Twentieth Century
Into the Woods (she is so versatile that I could see her as either Cinderella, the Baker's Wife, or the Witch)
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
Crimes of the Heart (as Meg)
Steel Magnolias
Bus Stop
Picnic
I think if there were ever a musical version of "Moonstruck" she would be great in that, too. Can you imagine her doing a song called, "Snap Out of It!" Too funny. And I sincerely hope that the musical "Me and Miss Monroe" makes it to Broadway with her playing Marilyn. The one demo song I have heard her sing, "When the Camera Isn't There," is terrific. I can't wait till the rest of the demo CD makes it to BWW.com Radio. Her interpretation of Marilyn Monroe is uncanny. It's sad, powerful, penetrating, and quite haunting.
Now it's your turn.

Ooh, I forgot one for Rachel York. Tracy Lord in THE PHILADELPHIA STORY. In fact, I think she would be great in remakes of many of the films that Katharine Hepburn did - DESK SET, BRINGING UP BABY, ADAM'S RIB, WOMAN OF THE YEAR, PAT AND MIKE. She'd need the right co-star to get the chemistry sparking, but I could see George Clooney measuring up to the challenge. They'd be great together in a remake of TO CATCH A THIEF, too. Today's Grace Kelly and Cary Grant. Yum.

Gregg Edelman as Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz. *snerk*
No, actually, I kind of would like to see if Paul McCrane (ER, Fame) could play John Adams in 1776. I know he certainly doesn't look like John Adams, but once he's got hair maybe it'd work. I don't know. He can sing, though.

Just 'cause I spent all my time waiting for the Avenue Q lottery staring at the BFO marquee across the street-
Hugh Jackman as Bobby in Company.
I think I've said it before, but I've been a bit fixated on that since he turned down the part for the Kennedy Center production. He's just the right age now, too.

I know there are talks of it, but I would really love to see Nathan and Matthew star in "The Odd Couple." Or even Nathan and Roger - they work so well together!
Heck, Nathan and Roger in *anything* would make me happy - they could just dance around the stage for an hour and a half and I'd pay!

Another ODD COUPLE pairing that could be a riot would be Peter Scolari and Bronson Pinchot. After seeing them in SLY FOX and then catching their post-show stage door antics in Boston, I think they would be amazing together. I'd have Scolari play Felix and Pinchot play Oscar.

Michael Arden in a billion different things.
I see Cheno as June in "GYPSY"

Chenoweth is just right for June, but she's getting too old for it. A lot of great musical theater stars, as a recent review of The Frogs said, made a living and became legends playing the same character in different clothes. But I think Chenoweth needs to vary her clothes a little more- her solo album proves she can do it.
Oh, and Bernadette Peters as Mrs. Lovett? Sheer brilliance. Add in Shuler Hensley as Sweeney Todd and I'm a happy girl.

Sutton Foster as Elphaba
Jennifer Holliday as Elphaba(yeah she's a little old but that would be somthing)
Stephanie Block as Elphaba
Hugh Jackman as Billy Flynn
Bebe Neuworth as Ruth Sherwood
Jennifer Hudson (american idol)as:
joanne (rent)
seasons of love soloist (rent)
Mama Morton
Stephanie D'Abruzzo as Glinda
Laura Bell Bundy as whatever the hell she wants
I feel that Cheno will always be cast in the squeaky supporting goofy roles, who knows...maybe she'll get a serious ingenue someday?
Kerry Butler as Glinda
Sutton Foster as Elphaba
Gavin Creel as Link Larkin or Fiyero
Cheno as Miss Dorothy

Kerry Butler - Miss Adelaide (Guys & Dolls...I can just hear her singing her Adelaide's Lament)
Jessica Grove - Sarah Brown (Guys and Dolls)
Jason Alexander - Nathan Detroit (Guys and Dolls)
I agree with John Goodman as Edna, i can see it.

Idina and Sutton must, MUST play Mama Rose someday!
I'd also, for some reason, like to see Cheno in a revival of "Call me Madam." I think she'd make a good Dolly Levi in "Helly, Dolly!" as well. They'd have to fix the score as it was written for Carol Channing's near-baritenor voice, haha.

Yes! ^ Bebe Neuwirth would make a great Ruth Sherwood in Wonderful Town. Someone should suggest that to the producers! I hope Brooke (not saying I dont like her, but not in this role)def. takes her place. Or even after Brooke leaves. Bebe even sounds somewhat like Donna Murphy and she's a great dancer
