Farwell Laura Michelle Kelly, final performance as Mary Poppins is today.

Today, Laura Michelle Kelly, who originated the role of Mary Poppins in the West End and won the Olivier Award for it, plays her final performance in the Broadway production today. I'm really glad that she worked her problems out woth Cameron Mackintosh, so she could finally play the role on Broadway. She's a wonderfully talented lady and I hope she continues to have a successful career.

To quote Dick Van Dyke from a famous movie, "Goodbye, Mary Poppins, don't stay away too long."

Oh, please...she has played it before on Broadway and will likely be back for a thirdh, fourth time. It's not like she's never going to do it again.

Technically, this is the first time she's played the role in New York. She had a hiatus where Ashley Brown came back temporarily. Besides, who knows how long "Mary Poppins" will last or if Kelly even has any interest in reprising the role on Broadway? I'm just glad I saw her first performance when she took over on Broadway. As much as I loved Ashley Brown, I'd always hoped that Kelly would open the show in NY. But better late than never.

Ashley Brown is/was by far the best Mary, but Laura had a great take on the role. I wish her well.

I have heard many good things about Steffanie Leigh, so I hope I get to see her when I am in the City in December.

I managed to catch Laura Michelle Kelly's last show and she was just divine and in *excellent* voice. I'd always wanted to see her and Gavin Lee together in the Broadway staging of "Mary Poppins" and tonight, I got my wish. LMK had tears in her eyes at the curtain call. I was in tears during "Feed the Birds." That song just gets to me every time I hear it - both onstage and in the film.

The show's in excellent shape. One nit though: the young lady playing Jane Banks was a little difficult to understand. Not sure if it's because of the way she speaks or if she had a cold...

The last time I saw "Mary Poppins" was LMK's first show in 2009, which was also when "Playing the Game" was introduced to the score. Christian Borle was still tentative with the dancing then especially when compared to GL, which is unfair I know because GL's been playing Bert for much, much longer.

I'm just so glad I got to see the bookends of LMK's performances. Love her.

Saw her in it in February, and though she was accomplished, she seemed to be walking through it a bit. She's a beautiful and talented triple threat, but I couldn't pick up enough distinctive personality find the performance a knock-out.

Really? I thought Laura Michelle Kelly was super distinct from Ashley Brown's take on the role and more authentic perhaps because she's English. Both women are excellent but my heart beats a little bit faster for LMK than for AB in this particular show.

LMK was also highly emotional toward the end of the show because, I'm assuming anyway, it was her final performance.
