loved the OBC, but never cared much for Adam's voice....still don't care much for Adam's voice, prefer Will.
love me some Heather, but Deborah definitely gave her a run for her money vocally. also enjoyed seeing/hearing Schelle, Simone, & Paulette.
Toni & Michelle were amazing in their own right, but compare in no way to anyone else.

well i saw will chase, toni braxton and mandy gonzales... but the obc is obviously out of control crazy good.
The original cast recording. I would've given anything to replace Heather during Adam's "bath"
agh, don't put those images back in my head, baddadnpa. heh.

The only cast I saw was awesome. Adam, Deborah, and Lisa. HOWEVER, I think this cast would still be my favorite (compared to the OBC) because I really dislike Heather Headley. Don't know why, she just rubs me the wrong way. Although I would have love to have seen Sherie or Idina.
Luv, bad thoughts about Adam and his bath?
ahhhhhhh.

I love Heather although I suspect she has a really healthy ego. Adam and Sherie Renee don't seem lacking in that department either. That said, I would have loved to have seen that trio, but was never afforded the chance. But they sound great on the OBC album.
However, I did see Paulette Ivory, Jeremy Kushnier and Kelly Fournier in the tour production and they were individually and collectively excellent. It's hard to imagine any trio being better.
Paulette and Jeremy seemed to be particularly well matched. Much better than Paulette and Patrick Cassidy, or so I've been told.
I really do love Heather, but her diction really bothers me.

I've wondered about that too. Is it because she still has traces of the Trinidadian accent and island lilt?
When she sang the word "chorus" in The Gods Love Nubia, if I had't had access to the lyric sheet, I still wouldn't have a clue as to what she was saying.
I think she over-enunciates.
gotta go for the original sherie, adam and heather
I always wished they would've brought Paulette Ivory into the NYC production.
... Adam's ego. heh. But, I suppose on any one, ego is permissible if it doesn't creep into his or her performance. And, I doubt you'd be able to tell Heather has a big one, if she does, from watching her play Aida.

Just saw a regional production of Aida starring Montego Glover at Music Theater of Wichita and I must say, she was wonderful.
She doesn't have the sardonic line readings or jaw-dropping gospel belt of Paulette Ivory, nor does she have the the pissed-off princess hauteur of Simone.
But she does have a beautiful traditional Broadway mezzo soprano and her acting is skillful and surprisingly nuanced. And despite being just a little slip of a woman, she holds the stage like no other. And she's so likable and charismatic. Her Aida is warmer than any I've seen and she wins audience sympathy almost immediately. I guess you'd say she has genuine star quality.
And she is in UNREAL shape. The outfit she wears from the the "Not Me" number through the end of Act one was a little dress that can best be described as princess bondage chic. But she pulled it off and looked sexy instead of sleazy.
If the rumors about Aida finally opening on the West End are true, she'd be a great candidate.
And getting back on topic, I think she would have fit in well with trio consisting of her, Jeremy Kushnier and Lisa Brecia.

If that's true, I'm flying to London.
The originals. I saw them years ago and I sorely regret not FULLY realizing that I was watching Adam Pascal on stage.
I wish I understood who he was back then.
But yes, they were a completely amazing trio. *sigh*
Had the privilege of seeing the OBC live, and they are bar-none the best I've seen. They're fantastic as solo performers, but also have an inimitable chemistry that made the show work. Deborah, Will and Lisa were good performers in their own right, and I would say they're my second favorite trio, but the didn't rub me the way the OBC did.
I also saw Taylor Dayne live...yech. No comedic timing, she half rasped/whispered her lines, and rush-spoke her songs.
Yes, Lari. I similiarly kick myself. "Adam who? Rent... what?"
"Mom, why are those crazy girls giving him a candle and stuff? Who IS he?"
I talked to Saycon about this last week, and she said Simone was her favorite because of all of her passion and trueness to the role!
Of those I saw live, Saycon was MY favorite.
I freaking love her.

If I say Sarah, Miles, and K.C., will anyone understand what I'm talking about? Because that's what I say
If not...Heather, Adam, and Sherie.
Talking about the opera, aren't you?
