Adam Pascal, Sherie Renee Scott, and Heather Headley. PERFECTION. Individually, together, whatever. PERFECTION.

I said PERFECTION, damn it!
"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

Have to say the OBC. Nobody beats Adam, Heather, and Sherie!

re: Favorite Aida Trio ?

Hell, the originals. Done, no questions asked. I think Amneris was the only part for which replacements matched up (Lisa and Felicia) and possibly for Aida as well - surely none were as brilliant as Heather, but there were some that could fill those shoes. If I could hand-pick a trio, maybe I'd pull one of the other leading ladies, just for kicks, but as for Radames, no one better than The Adam.

But as a unit, OBC.

re: Favorite Aida Trio ?

Hmm...this one is hard for me, Aida being probably my favorite show. The very first I saw on Broadway, and the one I saw every trip to New York since (well...up to it's closing)...

Radammes- Adam Pascal. DONE. I don't think anyone came close to equaling him. Matt Bogart wasn't horrible. I think the second time I saw it he went on for Adam, and I did like him, but he was nowhere near Adam's performance.

Amneris- This one is really tough for me because I've seen SO many of them. I think my favorite was definitely Felicia Finley. There was something about her personality and character that I just loved. Beyond her, Sherie Rene Scott is definitely a VERY close second. She was fantasic beyond words. Taylor Dayne was actually really really good too, the one time I saw her I have to say that her voice blew me away. It was amazing. Oh, and let us not forget Idina Menzel's brief stint as Amneris. Gotta say, probably the best that Amneris music was ever sung was by the AMAZING Idina. If you never got a chance to hear it, find a way to download a copy of her singing it. AMAZING.

Aida- I have a lot of strong opinions of the character of Aida. This role became a "pop star" role towards the end of the run of the show, probably to boost ticket sales since I know the show wasn't doing fantasic in sales towards the end. Mind you, there are some talented pop stars out there who I'm sure would be awesome on Broadway, but definitely we don't need any more Joey McIntyre, Kevin Richardson, Drew Lachey etc, on stage any longer. I never really cared for Toni Braxton, Deborah Cox, and that girl from Destiny's Child whose name escaped me right now. Maybe I was being unfair to them, but in my opinion the show opened with Heather Headley, who is in my opinion one of the most talented people to step onto Broadway, and it ended with people who really shoudn't have been on the stage to begin with. With all said, the role of Aida is really something in my mind, no matter who else performs or sings the role, they could never come very close to Heather Headley. Some of the people that followed her were actually quite good. Maya Days was FANTASIC. I saw her when you was filling in for Simone one night, and she blew me away. She brought a different style to Aida in my opinion than Heather did, and was really quite good. Simone I didn't care for. In my opinion she seemed a little too old for the role, and vocally didn't really impress me at all. The only other person who I really remembered liking a lot was Saycon Sangbloh, who I know I'm spelling her name incorrectly. She was fantasic as well, and I was VERY impressed. On top of all that I hear she plays a good Elpahba as well. All in all though, Heather was clearly queen, and I definitely will never forget that night where I got to see her on stage. Pure magic.

Well that's my opinion for ya. It's quite long, but then again you get me talking about about Aida, ya can't shut me up...

Hey - I think I kind of like you, Aber!! re: Favorite Aida Trio ?

It's Sengbloh, though. She was my favorite, actually, of the ones I saw live. I never saw Heather. *grumble*

It was my favorite, too. I miss it so much. re: Favorite Aida Trio ?
