Who is your all-time FAVORITE diva and why?
Emily Skinner is my favorite... She and Alice Ripley saved my life. I would not be here today if it wasn't for those two ladies..

Posted: 12/29/04 at 5:01pmPatti LuPone -- she epitomizes the term! She can act and sing the sh*t out of any score. And she KNOWS how important her fans are to her and what they have done for her career. I know there are some naysayers out there -- but you will never change my opinion on this one --

What's wrong with being a Side Show fan?! Hmm?!??
Geez, if I had to rely on Emily for my mental stability, I would have been dead long ago.
j/k (well, kind of...)

Posted: 12/29/04 at 9:21pmI'm not really familiar with the show. A little help? All I know is that my camp MIGHT do it because my directors love it.

Well, Violet and Daisy are both mezzo roles, though Vi is *usually* a third higher than Miss Daisy. :) Violet is the lovable "homebody" who wants to get married and settle down and just "find true love", whereas Daisy is a bit of a ham and a go getter -- craves fortune and fame and constant adoration (maybe this tells you a little bit about my personality as this is my "dream role"). They both learn that their ideals aren't what they're cracked up to be and that though nothing else in life is secure or forever, the only thing that they can actually rely on is each other. (Aww, how cliche...right?!)
It's actually very touching, and despite some qualms concerning lyrics, I think its very universal... just about anyone can relate to the story on some level. We've all had moments where we feel like "the freak".
