Posted: 12/30/04 at 1:32amWell, what exactly are the qualifications to call someone a "diva"?
#28re: Favorite Diva ?!?
Posted: 12/30/04 at 1:41amDunno, a distinguished female singer?

Posted: 12/30/04 at 1:49amSo, would it be appropriate to throw Sutton Foster into the mix? Or is she just too damn sweet to be a diva?
#30re: Favorite Diva ?!?
Posted: 12/30/04 at 2:00amI can see Sutton being a diva. An adorable diva.

Posted: 12/30/04 at 9:44amA Diva is a person who has made leaps and bounds on the Broadway Stage. How's that? So Julie, Liza, Kristin, Idina, and everyone else who has made significant leaps and bounds on stage.. they all count, I was aking the question to see how many people liked the older stars and the newer stars... Enjoy the thread...

Is Angela considered a DIVA?
If so, then she's my choice! :)

Julie Andrews isn't a diva?? EXCUSE ME?
Let's talk about what a diva this woman is... when I was doing Camelot a story about the grande Lady of the Theatre was relayed to me... during *her* time spent doing that musical on Broadway. It seems she was QUIT the diva, and not in the "good way". She actually threw a hissy fit and stomped on the director's foot at one point. If that's not a "diva" thing to do, I'm not sure what is.
Please don't get me wrong, I love the woman. I'm all for an actress with... um... spunk?
I'm not sure that Millie is the appropriate material to audition for Side Show with. I just think it might be a little "over the top" and doesn't really have... enough heart? Side Show's a lot darker than Millie, but that's just my opinion. PLUS, Millie is so overdone. I'd do something more original.
I mean, ultimately it's your audition, your choice. That's just my two cents.

Posted: 12/30/04 at 10:23amThank you! Are there any songs that you would suggest? I would do Once Upon a Dream since it's one of my best songs but I heard not to do Wildhorn and it's an alto song. Do you have any suggestions?

Posted: 12/30/04 at 10:28amI agree with Daisy (like I usually do)... I would say find something that noone has heard of.. Like something from Honk! Challenge yourself and give the people something they haven't heard 5000 times before...
#42re: Favorite Diva ?!?
Posted: 12/30/04 at 10:30amMaybe I should get Honk! sheet music. Or something from Urinetown? I really have no idea!

Let me think on it. If you're going out SPECIFICALLY for Violet you may want something that shows a *lot* of vulnerability. They both have their share of it, but Vi's the "weaker" character, as it were. Something sweet and pretty is probably your best bet. (As opposed to something hammy and loud, which I would suggest for Daisy, LOL... of course, what ELSE do you actually think of when you think of Emily Skinner?... or any role she's ever played...)
Oooo... you know what's *really* pretty and Alice has sung it... "Losing Track of Time" from Summer of '42. It has a Violet feel, IMO. Let me sit on it though. If I think of anything I'll let you know.

Little Fish... I was going to commit suicide and I heard them singing I Will Never Leave You.. and for some reason, I stopped and listened to the words. I had heard the song before, but I really stopped and listened to the words.. I probably shouldn't tell you all of this, cause all you're going to do is make fun of me. That's okay.. Anyone who like Broadway has a song that just touches their life.. That just happened to be mine.
