Since the Broadway cast recording just came out, I was wondering what everyone's favorite songs are? Mine are:
- Welcome to Our House On Maple Avenue
- Come to the Fun Home
- Raincoat of Love
- Maps (obvs.)
- Ring of Keys (obvs)

Changing my major (to Joan)
There's never been a good love song for Joan and we've needed one!
What do I win if guess correctly?
Hard to pick, but the ones I sing the most at home are Changing My Major and Telephone Wire.
Changing My Major, Days and Days, and Ring of Keys are the three that most vividly capture the human experience for me, but the whole score truly does that. Those three are just the standouts due to the performances behind them and the writing.

Impossible to pick! But "Telephone Wire" is something special.
Telephone wire, long black line
Telephone wire, finely threaded sky
Some gorgeous imagery in the lyrics of that song. I can feel the emotion of the scene without even seeing it played out.
My favorite moments in the cast album are:
The three Alison's singing together in "Flying Away"...beautiful
The end of "Edges of the World" (Oh Michael, you are amazing)
Changing My Major
Come to the Fun Home =)
And finally "Days and Days." The end made me sob, and I cannot remember the last time I cried listening to a cast album. As much as I cannot believe Sydney Lucas' brilliance at her age, I hope Judy Kuhn takes the Tony this year.
I didn't know a whole lot about the show and bought the off-broadway album on a whim. I wasn't expecting to respond to it as much as I did. On the surface I can't related to anything these people are going through, but oh, it moved me in a way I can't explain.

This is a tough one. I have to say mine are Ring of Keys, Telephone Wire, Days and Days, and then the Flying Away (Finale).
When "Alison" says "Every so often there was a rare moment of perfect balance when I soared above him" I get chills.
Flying Away.
It always makes my eyes a tad bit moist.
I really can't choose between Ring of Keys and Maps. The former had me sobbing with joy in the theater, but the latter is such a perfectly put together song centered around a beautiful lyrical idea. I just wish it was longer!

Whichever one gets After Eight most upset. I kid.
Days and Days.
Maps.
Closing number.
Ring of Keys.
Changing My Major.
Telephone Wire.
I adore the entire score (ok, maybe not Helen's Etude), but Ring of Keys and the finale never fail to move me. Both are gorgeous pieces of writing, both much and lyrics. I also have a soft spot for Raincoat of Love, largely because it's so different from the rest of the show and Joel Perez sounds fantastic singing it.
Ring of Keys. The innocence and honesty on that song are just magical.
Looking back on this post, my favorites now are Telephone Wire and Flying Away.
Telephone Wire. I could listen to that song 1000 times (and I probably have) and still have it wreck me.
