Who are some of your favorite characters to grace Broadway? Who are some you utterly loathed? It could be that they were meant to be likable but you felt that they were badly written and you didn't like them or they were just a plain villain. Anything goes!
Anyway, answer away! By the way, goodbye Great Comet. I love you.

"One of my favorite characters is Angelica Hamilton."
Sorry but I think you mean either Angelica Schuyler (Church) or Eliza Schuyler Hamilton.

My favorite character of all time has to be Black Stache from Peter and the Starcatcher, with Pierre from Great Comet and Helen from Fun Home as close seconds. I'm also big on Valjean, Diana (N2N), Ilse and Moritz (SA), and literally all of the TGC female roles.
Least favorite would be Melchior from Spring Awakening. I find him to be one of the most frustrating/morally dubious protagonists ever, and he ruins what is otherwise a wonderful show in my eyes.
I'm also not a fan of Evan Hansen. It's less because I dislike the character himself, and more because I feel like he was treated very poorly by the writers. He had the potential to be so complex/engaging, but the writing just didn't support him.

My heart has always belonged to Eponine, ever since the first time I borrowed my friend's cassette tape of the London cast recording and heard Frances Ruffelle sing "On My Own." When it transferred to Broadway I got to see her performance and that sealed it. (it was the first show I ever saw on Broadway)

Among my favorites would be the Countess Aurelia, Julian and Nina in Dear World; Dolly, Cornelius, Irene, Barnaby and Minnie in Hello, Dolly!, Diana in The Happiest Girl in the World, Barnaby and Nancy in Sail Away; Audrey in Let It Ride!; Laura in Tenderloin; Eileen in Wonderful Town...
I try not to think about the ones I couldn't stand. Wasn't being in their presence in the theatre painful enough? But since the question has been posed, I'll shudder and answer: Sweeney Todd, Fosca, Ben Stone, Buddy, George, Charley Kringas, Bobby Baby, Che, and I'm sure many more I've forgotten ----- forever, I hope!

My least favorite is Jamie from the Last Five Years.
Edit: oops, technically he was never on Broadway. Oh well.

I think Natasha, Pierre, and Helene are some of the best characters ever translated on stage. Such meaty roles with depth.
I loate Evan Hansen, and think he's nothing but generic propoganda for a severely misguided story about what it's actually like to grow up with an anxiety disorder.

Least favorite character - Marvin from Falsettos. As a person, I also loathe Louis from Angels In America, but it's such a well written character that I cannot help but appreciate the work itself. Marvin for me has absolutely no redeeming qualities.
Favorite characters, hmm. Definitely Dolly Levi, and Edna Turnbland. The material is really strong and you cannot help but love these character, even with average performers.

I DO NOT like Marius at all, he's just an annoying character. Favorites include Gertrude (Seussical) Jessie Tuck (Tuck Everlasting) Crutchie (Newsies) and the Mad Hatter (Wonderland)

Leaf Coneybear from Spelling Bee and Rose from Dogfight are my absolute favorite characters from anything! I also love Prior from Angels in America, Natalie and Henry from N2N, and all the Alisons in Fun Home.
I'm jumping on the Evan Hansen bandwagon- I find him just plain unlikeable.

I love Edna Turnblad so much. Her arc is so lovely and empowering. Plus her songs are all so fun to listen to.
I LOATHE Marius. He is so whiny and manipulative to me. Can't stand him.

There are many characters I love, but the one that pops into my mind right now is Cleo from The Most Happy Fella.
Least favorite is much easier. I absolutely could not stand Ogie in Waitress. Hated the writing, hated the acting.

I have too many favorites, so for now I'm focusing on my least favorites:
Everyone in Spring Awakening gets on my nerves one way or the other, but Wendla and Melchior take the cake. Wendla in particular is just so naive (I know that's the point, but it's irritating) and daft, while I find Melchior to be a terribly written character altogether.
I'm torn on this one- since I love GC and the character- but Nick Choski's portrayal of Dolokhov annoys me. Idk his voice is kind of endearing, but on the other hand very obnoxious. I'm really meh on Nick in the show honestly, he's okay but wasn't giving the best performance. I think Dolokhov's writing is pretty good, but the portrayal is not imo.
