I actually think I Remember is one of his best songs. Not only is the melody beautiful, but those lyrics are GENIUS. I use them in class to teach imagery and metaphor. I mean:
"I remember trees.
Bare as coatracks,
Spread like broken umbrellas"
That's just sheer genius, especially when you keep in mind who the character singing the song is.
Jasonf, I ABSOLUTELY agree. My voice teacher introduced me to I Remember to use for an audition for my high school's musical. She described it as "very raw, early Sondheim," which I think is very accurate. I think there's a definite unpolished, brilliant simplicity in the song.
Another Hundred People
I love it.

I think the entire score of "A Little Night Music" is absolutely breath taking. Every single 3/4 time signature bit of it.
Even Liasons.
I Remember.. that song is truly haunting. Gorgeous.
Otherwise...
Sticking with melodic songs...
Not While I'm Around
Losing My Mind
Now/Later/Soon.. I orgasm everytime when they get to the trio.
Not A Day Goes By
Loving You
Marry Me A Little
SO much from Sunday...
So many tunes to hum..

"So Many People" and a whole lot of others. In fact there are way to many to mention.

For me, it has to be: "I Remember", "Not a Day Goes By", and "Send in the Clowns". Runner ups: "Children Will Listen" and Happiness. Amazing melodies, all - and divine lyrics.
