No one questions the brilliance of Sondheim's lyrics, but many often forget his melodic gifts as well. What's YOUR favorite Sondheim melody?
Mine would be "Not A Day Goes By." Beautifully melodic, might be his best melody.
Also, "Johanna" is great, too.

A lot of great ones in A Little Night Music:
-Every Day a Little Death
-A Weekend in the Country
-Night Waltz 1 and 2
-Send in the Clowns
-The Miller's Son
-The Glamorous Life (Film version)
I really love "Opening Doors" I don't know if it's my favorite (who can pick?) but it's up there!

I don't think I could pick just one! Some of my favorites are:
No One Is Alone
Not While I'm Around
Sunday
Loosing My Mind
Picking one is almost impossible (but "Impossible" would not make my list). Top ten maybe - in no order:
1. Losing My Mind
2. Not While I'm Around
3. Too Many Mornings
4. I Remember
5. Take Me To the World
6. With So Little To Be Sure Of
7. Someone is Waiting
8. Marry Me a Little
9. Unworthy of Your Love
10. Johanna
God, there are so many! I could probably do another 20 with a minimum of thought.

The Last Midnight from Into the Woods is very good. Plus, I think the entire score of A Little Night Music is stunning and couldn't possibly be left out.

Far too many to list, but I'd like to put in a good word for "In Praise of Women" (A Little Night Music).

Elizabeth_DeBris, I love your signature! That line makes me laugh out loud every single time. Excellent choice.

Why, thank you! It's one of my favorite lines from Into the Woods... mostly because it managed to make the people in my theatre class who were determined to hate the show (honestly, why take a theatre class if you dislike theatre?) laugh.
I have a strange obsession with A Weekend in the Country--but I'm sure there's a melody I like better..
I'd probably have to go with "I Remember." Absolutely haunting.
