This isn't West End, but Luke Kempner, understudy to Gareth Gates as Marius in the 25th anniversary tour of Les Misérables...better than Gates himself!
Amy Lennox as Elle in Legally Blonde. Her vocal is outstanding compared to Sheridan, and her acting is far more believable allowing you to emphasise with the characters a lot more.
Hopefully with the Cast Change she will be promoted from her usual role of Margot into a full time Elle.
Katy Treharne is fantastic as Christine in Phantom, even though she's an understudy. I've seemed to love the London understudies: Sofia Escobar, Katie Hall, and now Katy Treharne. Fantastic, blooming voices.
I have seen lots of understudies and they are almost always fantastic. I love it the most when they are wrong for the role or totally different from the normal lead. I saw Spamalot twice when Sanjeev Bhaskar was playing King Arthur part time and the understudy was much younger but amazing. I also saw a very young Mrs Tottendale in Drowsy Chaperone. In Wicked I loved seeing Cassidy Jansen as Elphaba and Annalene Beechey as Galinda. The were both amazing in their roles.
Have to add Philippa Stefani as Molly in GHOST. It was her first time on yesterday and you have NEVER guessed it. Her nerves didn't show and she knocked every song out of the ball park. An amazing amazing voice!

Spencer Stafford - He's been excellent the 2 times i have seen him go on in different shows. it seems he is working constantly and hopefully he'll get a decent break soon.
