Toughest Role Ever- The Witch in Into the Woods. I'm working on her right now, and my gosh creating both the protagonist and antagonist in one character with two completely different physicalitys that the audience has to both love and hate... and trying not to be Bernadette! If anyone has any advice, i'd love it!

Hmmm ---

Most Fun in a Play - Tommy Banks in "Father of the Bride". Being a know-it-not is always fun. re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Favorite and/or Most Challe
Most Challenging in a Play - Piggy in "Lord of the Flies". So many vastly different key factors made this the most challenging acting role for me. I initially declined the role (fearing that, at nearly 20 I was ridiculously old to play someone soooo young with a group of actual 8-to-12 year olds); but, luckily, the director was persistent enough to send me the script and a letter begging me to at least read it. Wow! So glad I did it. And it's probably good to still have a baby face. re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Favorite and/or Most Challe Not to mention, being thrown off of a nine foot cliff is oodles of fun! (As long as the crew remembers to fill the air mattress! Luckily, they only forgot twice in our run. re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Favorite and/or Most Challe)
Most Fun in a Musical - Sparky in "Forever Plaid". Working with such an amazing group of peers never actually seemed like "work"! And being the funny *baby* of the group is something I seem to do well.
Most Challenging in a Musical - Seymour in "Little Shop of Horrors". Being a huge fan of the musical (it's my favorite!) since early childhood, it was always my dream to play this role, and I was determined to do it *right*! I don't like when the show is played for high camp (coughrevivalcough), and I refused to allow myself to be just another schlocky nerd. I read and then re-read Howard Ashman's notes on the show and how the characters and situations should be played, broke down every line of the show (even if it had nothing to do with me, directly), watched every single version of the story I could find (movies, productions, etc.), researched everything I could find on the internet, and then contacted anybody who might have any knowledge of the character, including having a few conversations with original Seymour Lee Wilkoff and current Seymour Hunter Foster (back in Florida, when I thought he had a better handle on the role. However, even if I don't love the current BWay production, I still like his Seymour...) It took me a year to fully discover and prepare who I knew Seymour Krelbourn was - and, after running the entire emotional spectrum, every night after the show I left the theatre completely drained, emotionally and physically. It's still probably the role I am most proud of - and the only role I can watch myself in and not cringe. re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Favorite and/or Most Challe

Okay, sorry - didn't mean to be so long-winded, I really didn't! Thanks for reading - you guys take care.

Love,
Joshie

Favorite Role: Lenny Gatz (Rumors) simply because it was my first big role in a comedy and the show and my character got big laughs which I enjoyed to no end. Also, it was very tiring but exciting to do the whole 5+ minute monologue or however long it was where the character had to make up and act out this outrageous cover story for a supposed murder. Needless to say I was running about the stage, and screaming certain lines in Spanish. It was exciting!

I can't say that I've had a challenging role yet. I'm still only in highschool, so there hasn't been much besides school and a little community theatre. If I get the lead role of Frank Butler in Annie Get Your Gun at my school, then that will most likely present a challenge.

Favorite role: Uncle Jimmy in NO, NO, NANETTE. He was such an innocent, fun-loving person!

Biggest challenge: Harry Roat in WAIT UNTIL DARK. Virtually every time this character appears in the play he's disguised as someone else. I was very upset, though, when a woman had a heart attack when I had my "big finale" (I don't want to give away the plot, but those familiar with the play will know what I'm referring to here!)

I have only had a few roles but my favorite was Nathan Detroit. It is a really fun role. It was so much fun wth the back and forth between Nathan and Adelaide. I had only ever seen the movie, and that didn't help any. He ended up being a deeper character than I first thought, I dunno maybe that sounds stupid but it took a lot of work. I tried to have his comedic side but also his side that he really did love Adelaide and that be a struggle with his fear of marriage. His fear of what other gamblers will think of him if he gets married, I drew on my experience when I used to worry about fitting in at all costs. The accent was hard to master because while the girl who played Adelaide was allowed to have an all out accent, I had to do it mine a certain way so it wasn't to over the top and it took me forever to get the accent down. The girl who played Adelaide was one of my really good friends and she was amazing. Ok enough rambling from me.re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: re: Favorite and/or Most Challe

I went to an all-boys high school and had a very difficult time grasping the complexity of Mama Rose in my senior year performance. Really difficult. I think the guy who played Baby June had an even more difficult time.

Hardest Role I have ever played was Dr. Thaddeus Quilt in "Round O and Crooked S" by Bill Allen . I originated this role this past December at SUNY Cortland. English accent, gay, sadistic and torturous. A hell of alot of lines and monologues to learn

My favorite role of all time is Amos Hart in "Chicago" which I played this past October also at SUNY Cortland. Such a great character and "Mr. Cellophane" is such an awesome song.

Favorite/most challenging role: Gladys in Pajama Game, which I'm rehearsing for. I am very businesslike in some parts, and then other scenes really let loose (like Steam Heat, Hernando's Hideaway) The hard part is it's pretty dance intensive, and I know the girls I was originally up against are better dancers than I, so I feel like I really have to do well. I'm more of a singer who dances, than a dancer who sings, so this is a challenge for me!

I'm still in school so I haven't had much chance to get out and do stuff except for school shows and some community theater, etc.
