Featured Actress (Play): Ehle & Plimpton#1

Featured Actress seems a very close race- the word on the street seems to favour the Coast of Utopia ladies, with Martha Plimpton with a slight edge over Jennifer Ehle. The recent BWW Fans' Choice Awards confirms this. I was wondering, what's the rationale? I saw Voyage and Shipwreck but missed Salvage, so didn't get to see MP in a prominent role. Also I'm hardly unbiased- see signature link! Are people's picks only based on performance, or is it the "she's got one already" factor?

She'll win because she was wonderful.

Ehle was excellent as well, but Plimpton's role was more showy. Both women have done consistant work in the past as well, but Ehle has already won. Plimpton doesn't have a Tony yet, so they will use this opportunity to give her one. She deserves it.

Munk, I hope you're right...Plimpton deserves this award. She was brilliant in COAST.

As munk said, Plimpton's part is showier. Plus, she has a prominent role in "Salvage", which, as it's the third installment, is arguably "fresher" in people's minds. She'll win.

I think Ehle will win. I think that her role in part 2 is flashier than Plimpton's in part 3. Also, not everyone saw Salvage, so they might not have seen Plimpton in a larger role. Ehle's Natalie Herzen was a sight to see. Plimpton was great too, and I wouldn't mind if she did win, but I have a feeling this one goes to Jennifer Ehle.
